Re:Black Screen After MacBook Pro Update to macOS Big Sur on Monday November 16, 2020 @02:49PM (#25116151)
The one compelling thing to me is the smart battery management in Big Sur: it won't charge your battery past 80% if you don't need it (based on usage patterns) to protect the battery life. I'm also excited about the seamless switch between all Apple devices for the Airpods Pro, but not everyone owns those
And more expensive
Because then no small company can compete with the big ones in the auction...
Re:New York State Attorney General Investigating WeWork on Wednesday November 20, 2019 @12:27AM (#21581314)
The company itself and most importantly WeWork employees were harmed (some of them won't have a job soon, and were promised a huge IPO)
Trump not colliding with the Russians doesn't mean the Russians were not involved in the election. It just means he did not work with them. They could (and probably did) worked on their own because it's their own best interest to see Trump elected.
Even with unsuccessful IPOs, lots of people are suddenly gonna have access to liquidity. They may get 300k instead of 600k but still, this is going to be a change for thousands of people compared to the previous years.
Re:Chrome 69: “www.” subdomain missing from URL on Thursday September 06, 2018 @04:06PM (#17929150)
This reminds me of Windows hiding file extensions by default. So annoying... now you don't know what your dealing with, it's harder to modify etc

Can't believe no one has cited Omni for "Low-Friction Lending Library". This is exactly what they are doing.

I have no relationships or interests whatsoever with them, apart from being a happy customer.

Re:The Decline of the American Laundromat on Tuesday August 01, 2017 @05:22AM (#14898966)
It has always surprised me how rare, at least here in the bay, washer/dryer hookups are. I can't remember renting a place (even my shitty student studio) without them before.
Re:Snap falls to IPO price on Tuesday July 11, 2017 @04:08AM (#14742387)
Do you need to be an accredited investor to subscribe to an IPO?
Pi-hole (https://pi-hole.net/) does something like this. It's not plug'n'play though.
Re:Show HN: Using city permits to map Sonic.net fiber on Friday May 26, 2017 @05:38PM (#14427401)
I had Sonic Fiber in a high-rise in the SOMA/Rincon Hill neighborhood. Not sure why the permit data is not there but they definitely serve this area.

Nitpick, but yeah, CapGemini is French ;)

This one actually regulates itself based on your physical activity. They also think it should beat faster if you're in a stressful or emotional situation (such as meeting with your crush). This is based on the fact that your blood vessels will dilate themselves and the artificial heart will compensate.

They're back!
