Write them in the margin of a book....

"It is impossible for a cube to be a sum of two cubes, a fourth power to be a sum of two fourth powers, or in general for any number that is a power greater than the second to be the sum of two like powers. I have discovered a truly remarkable proof, but this margin is too small to contain it."

Looks great and terrifying, as expected.
A client i work for used a Pick system and it's maintained by one dude. He's in his 60s, so who knows how long they'll be able to get support...

Ah yes, the ubiquitous "foreskin to autism" pipeline....

Polititions, so correct on both counts!

I'm a big fan of the Logitech Marathon Mouse (M702). It love the weight, battery life, use of AAs and the hand feel.
Re:US AI Action Plan on Thursday July 24, 2025 @10:24AM (#44671100)
The US has been continuously running a budget deficit for decades (brief blip at the end of Clinton/beginning of W Bush). This is more of an "epoch" than "era". I love the idea of incentives that aren't tax breaks!

Yes. Yes it should. In practice, 100% "./configure" success is a pipe dream.
Re:Future Chips Will Be Hotter Than Ever on Wednesday April 16, 2025 @05:00PM (#43710337)
a second heatsink mounted the back of the chip? maybe the socket the chip in suck a way the back touches a copper plate attached to some heatpipes? plenty of options
maybe a way to skip ahead to the harder levels? it's not that I mind the randomness at all, it's just i'd like to start at something tougher than "1 pawn".

Love the game a lot!

i use dropbox
Wonderfully fun game, but I really wish there was a way to save progress instead of starting over again and again.
Re:2025 Tariff Impacts at Puget Systems on Friday March 28, 2025 @11:43PM (#43512534)
Is there even an American domestic GPU manufacturer? I can't imagine it's an easy, or quick thing, to build out a factory capable of churning out 5090s, so the best bet would be someone capable of expanding quickly.
The Internet Archive currently does "host a clone of the CDC site as it existed before Trump took office". Everyone on IA knows, or could find out very easily, that they are viewing of an older version of the site.

The NGO group publishing this website seems to be intentionally misrepresenting the site as the actual CDC. They have altered the information contained on the page to push a specific message that is not backed up by science as understood by the CDC, whose website they are impersonating. The page is designed in such a way to ensure you do NOT know you are not viewing the current CDC.

As this is HN, I'm going to interpret your message in the best possible light. I need to ask a clarifying question:

Does this really seem like a slippery slope to you? Taking down a website designed to impersonate another entity and misrepresent their beliefs will lead to the tyranny taking down the Internet Archive?

I still haven't managed to break myself of the habit, from the 80s, of referring the operator of a BBS as if they were someone's female sibling: sis-op.
Re:Harvard study finds seed oils healthier than butter on Wednesday March 19, 2025 @03:08PM (#43416114)
Wait, I missed this. They're saying we need to replace peanut oil, which I'm not saying is a multivitamin or anything, with lard? Holy crap... Even McDonald's figured out that's something to skip
I used a piece of plexiglass spray painted white on the back with Sharpie markers. Nail polish remover and towels cleans it. I didn't like being able to accidentally rub off parts
So likely something that would get overlooked in any other climate. I don't see this as bad as the Griner/THC/USSR situation, but the authorities in charge seem to need to be seen "doing something"
