Hey. I work on trendly/Dabble DB, and I used to work with PCF on opencongress.org. Good to see you using trendly. I hope you like it.
Re:API changes in Snow Leopard on Friday August 28, 2009 @04:45PM (#792256)
The first thing I wanted to see as a Smalltalker was how much they've baked Blocks into the libraries. I know Cocoa has always had very long method names, but some of these names are wild:

- #enumerateObjectsUsingBlock: is #do:

- #objectsPassingTest: or #indexesOfObjectsPassingTest: are #select:

And so on. Here's what I'm looking at:

Re:Amazon Killing Mobile Apps That Use Its Data on Tuesday July 07, 2009 @05:58PM (#692647)
The interesting thing from my point of view is that the Delicious Library iPhone app doesn't make Amazon API calls for ISBNs. It synchronized with the desktop version of Delicious Library, which gets its information from the Amazon API. So the headline is pretty carefully written, they're killing mobile apps that use their data.

Re:Facebook doesn't want you to deactivate your account. on Sunday July 05, 2009 @09:12PM (#688927)
I refreshed the deactivate page, and it doesn't seem to be completely random, but it also isn't 100% the same every time. It seems to pick between the same 20 or so friends for me.

Another thing that's interesting is that the deactivate option is exactly where it should be, rather than buried many levels deep in menus. I tried to remove my classmates.com account the other day, and it was a mess.

Re:EveryBlock source code released on Tuesday June 30, 2009 @09:34PM (#681938)
They really seem to have gone beyond the terms of their funding and tried to extract the code into useful standalone pieces. Thanks for that, guys.
Re:Pandora shut down internationally because of licensing on Tuesday June 30, 2009 @06:44PM (#681745)
Pandora hasn't worked in Canada for at least a couple of years, so I wonder if this is even a new development.
This project has nontrivial pieces written in Squeak, Java, Ruby, and Javascript. The site has a dash of PHP.

Re:GitHub Firewall Install (your own github) on Tuesday June 02, 2009 @07:39PM (#638895)
I don't understand why you need obfuscation for this. With customers of this size, you can have them sign a contract that protects your IP. Price in what you think is the risk, and insist on a contract.
Re:Git Hub Serves More Ruby Gems Than Rubyforge on Friday May 29, 2009 @05:05PM (#632811)
This is something to be proud of, and github is great work.

It's not really accurate, though because this lists every user's fork of a gem as a distinct gem. Here's a script I put together to get a different count, which I believe is more of a "real" count.

It's 3140 as I write this, not 4766.

Re:GLASS/Seaside Success Story on Saturday May 09, 2009 @12:20AM (#600716)
What we do is run the RFBServer in squeak so we can connect directly to the running images on GUIless servers. This works pretty well.
Re:Transparency is Bunk on Thursday April 23, 2009 @12:09PM (#575897)
I'd like to read about these, particularly about how they could be Constitutional, but I can't seem to find the correct words for a Google search. Would you post a link, or possibly a set of words to search for?
Silly man.
