talk to any young devs and see what they say
I've felt this way alot this year, the year of apathy?? I've been talking about AI and Ethics for over 10 years now on my podcast the machine ethics podcast www.machine-ethics.net and I'm getting to the point that I actually hate talking about it, the influence it has on peoples minds is now massive and present in a way it hasn't been before. It should go the way of Alexa—a good technology a the few not the many (and im thinking cancer research etc here).
Still find I get gaslit too much to make it much faster than coding myself and then therefore learning and understanding whats going on...
love the website, but sounds like the community mostly needs places to actually go be together, feel like maybe the website and members thing could have happened after maybe?
then we should be making legos, not cakes...

I find that I often listen to long articles/blog posts using Apple's in built text-to-speech (when you highlight the text and right click while using Chrome or any Apple browser or text app, then hit speech). Its still rather bad and I wondered if anyone has a better solution for more natural sounding text to speech whcih is easy to use, at my finger tips for when I want to listen to a long...

I came across MJML in a github repo for an org, and was like 'cool nice, email templates are hard and annoying, maybe this will finally make it easier'...I'm not refutting that its probably nice to write and then make a quick template...but, in what way are these responsive???If the web "responds" when the browser is tiny on phones or big on your wide screen PC monitor, all the example...

Was really hoping that this was going to be a useful thread for me, as I have a 8 going on 9 year old who mostly wants to be doing computer games, minecraft and making stuff all day long. But unsuprisingly there's some haters who really could have not bothered in this thread... I mean seriously why waste your own time?
For me I'm going to give raspberry pi a go and hope that he gets excited about the hardware aspect and making things with it as well as the software side... and if he breaks it cool, no problem, where as breaking my work mac would be catastrophic for me and my ability to work :(
got to start somewhere...
I use duckduckgo and google for search – sometimes I find the google AI answers helpful (even though sometimes inaccurate still) for more categorical questions that I simply need an anwser or somewhere to start with (i.e. "can you eat charcoal?"), I then go ahead a click some links...
I use ChatGPT for text summation and translation, and midjourney for slide decks and graphic design ideation.
www.machine-ethics.net if you've interested in the ethics of AI
HA! unfortunately its not the 90s anymore :)
Crikey! Nice setup. Feel like I'm more aligned with you on this one where I don't want to put my data in the hands of someone who can both use it and lose it... I've got my NAS in the office but might look into a setup for the whole family
wowza! nice. I wonder what the version of that for a granny is?!

It struck me when chatting with my mother in-law that whether you're on an Android or iOS phone you may still be pushed into purcahsing more sych storage to keep your photos/videos backedup or simply give yourself more space...For years now (as an iOS and Mac user) I've used Image Capture to download and free up my photos from my phone and backing them up on a RAID harddrive.... I'm probably...
+ 1 for sure.
My personal interest is more aligned with crypto (back in 2008) where I would like to see a transation layer which is independent... feel free to use banks or not, invest or not, but the way you move moeny about is shared and not owned by anyone.

- Thyme - simplest time tracker possible
many similar life simulations in more dimensions (3d,4d, etc) or with diferent shapes that are interesting at all? (im obviously thinking hexagonal or trianglar)

This makes me cry just thinking about it. I have two young children.
Please live your life. This tragedy will follow you forever, but it doesn't need to consume you.
wow, long and interesting thread! I'm sure people have already pointed out but your website needs a content overhale to actually say what your doing and roughly how... also, tangent question, can concrete be made from concrete? just thinking what happens when we cover the earth in the stuff we could use something else or reuse?
