About 75% afaik.

CSS is neither of these.

It's ironic how the blandest, most predictable opinion piece is about how AI produces medicore content.

There are dozens of us! Dozens!
Re:Five Kinds of Friends (2022) on Thursday October 05, 2023 @01:59AM (#37775339)
I'm probably from a similar culture and friendship here means a very close personal relationship similar to, or in some cases even stronger than, familial relationships. I feel that the original post's concept of friendship is very shallow compared to that. Friendship in my culture transcends such categorization.
What does commenting 3 asterisks mean? I’ve been noticing this more and more recently
Re:GPT-4 API General Availability on Thursday July 06, 2023 @03:46PM (#36621744)
What I don’t understand is why is an API needed to create embeddings. Isn’t this something that could be done locally?
Re:Lemmy now has over 2M users across 915 instances on Saturday July 01, 2023 @11:04AM (#36550886)
I can confirm that programming.dev is a very nice instance.

I hope that the threadiverse will consolidate into a bunch of themed instances instead of the current state of having 200 different Reddit clones.

Re:The Vatican Releases Its Own AI Ethics Handbook on Thursday June 29, 2023 @02:50PM (#36525001)
This sounds almost psychopathic or maybe it is just ragebait trolling.
I switched to Linux 4 years ago because of these dark patterns. No regrets.

Watch a couple of videos by this guy: https://www.youtube.com/@RobertMilesAI (very entertaining and informative by the way)

These videos changed my mind entirely about AI risk.

Okay, you can’t just leave us hanging and not tell us what exactly you have done
A really nice instance that might be interesting to people here is http://programming.dev

Join the programming.dev instance instead. It’s really nice and starting to become an active community.
Re:GitHub Copilot and the Methods of Rationality on Tuesday June 06, 2023 @07:11AM (#36210935)
I've been using it for a couple of days but it feels much more limited than GPT-4-based ChatGPT. If I ask ChatGPT to do the same task it always comes up with a much better solution. Has anyone else experienced the same?
Wow, I could only watch the first 15 minutes now but it’s already fascinating! Thanks for the recommendation.
Thanks, I’ll try it! (I’m in Hungary)
“Bard isn’t currently supported in your country. Stay tuned!”
Yes. Before the update, when its avatar was still black, it solved pretty complex coding problems effortlessly and gave very nuanced, thoughtful answers to non-programming questions. Now it struggles with just changing two lines in a 10-line block of CSS and printing this modified 10-line block again. Some lines are missing, others are completely different for no reason. I'm sure scaling the model is hard, but they lobotomized it in the process.

The original GPT-4 felt like magic to me, I had this sense of awe while interacting with it. Now it is just a dumb stochastic parrot.

Subscribe, try GPT-4 and never look back.

Re:China Is Not Russia. Taiwan Is Not Ukraine on Saturday March 05, 2022 @03:12PM (#30571413)
How could Taiwan - a country the US doesn’t recognize - join NATO?
I bought a refurbished Fujitsu Lifebook a month ago after 7 years of using various Dells and Macbooks. The experience (on Linux) has been surprisingly smooth. Everything just works, zero overheating. The machine has thinkpad-like build quality but it looks nicer.

I use it all the time
Re:The bureaucracy of hiking Hungary's Blue Trail on Thursday February 03, 2022 @04:31AM (#30190492)
Agreed. Each stamp print is a small reward and seeing more and more of the beautifully designed prints appear in your booklet feels great. I started hiking the trail in 2019 with my dog - we both have separate collection booklets - and I hope when we finally complete the trail, he too can get his own badge.

Ask HN: What happened to blogging about programming?

10 years ago I could spend a weekend binge reading Joel on Software, Steve Yegge, Coding Horror, Peter Norvig's or ESR's articles. I learned a lot from their writing.I look back at those days as the golden age of programmer writing. Super smart people who wrote very well.Nowadays I feel like there is simply no new content that compares to the quality of these blogs/web sites. Why is this so? Or...

Atheism does not mean the lack of morality. I find it rather sad that some people cannot imagine morality without a higher authority.
