I'm usually annoyed by people complaining about scroll hijacking on HN but this site was a new level of bad.
I think it would be extremely confusing for customers if the steam “Buy” button was renamed to “Rent” or “Lease”.
The US is involved in too many wars to call them all the "US war".
Re:Israel Strikes Oil Facilities in Iran on Saturday March 07, 2026 @10:34PM (#47294131)
Yes for sure. It’s not easy to find reporting about the extent of attacks on either side of this war.

Comet in moominland is about them learning about a comet heading towards earth that they believe is going to kill them all.
We don't even have to go that far to realize how quickly the democratic establishment would roll over in the face of a civil war. I don't think Chuck Schumer is going to be leading an armed resistance movement anytime soon.

Yeah it’s infuriating to think about.

Kyle Reese?

They have to accept cash in the US as well. The post you're replying to is just saying that they can't ring anything up or accept any payment without power.

Don't need a super computer to do that hah
Re:I am rich and have no idea what to do on Thursday January 02, 2025 @11:34PM (#42582466)
Yeah and it was probably equally craven and opportunistic to bring them in as well.

Imagine doing something with money that isn't investing in a for profit company.

Was it intentional that you used the phrase “rolling sentences around her mouth, like toffee” in a post about how it’s better to write plainly?

Care to share your examples?
A president who is willing to do those things, and has a military willing to carry those orders out, isn't likely to be stopped by the court telling them it's illegal.
Re:Nakatomi Space on Friday October 20, 2023 @02:56PM (#37960034)
Yeah GTA doesn't have much in terms of destructibility. Some of the battlefield games do this pretty well though, particularly Bad Company 2. It was very common in that game to use explosives to make different ways in and out of buildings.
I think for anyone not working in national security, any thug could just as easily get your password out of you.
Re:Self-Driving Cars Are Surveillance Cameras on Wheels on Monday July 03, 2023 @10:53AM (#36573762)
The probability that humans are still driving around in cars, self driving or not, in 1000 years is incredibly unlikely.
Which cities actually have lowered their police budgets since 2020?
Yes it is.
Those books are pretty lame but this ChatGPT book is still pretty far behind those.

Re:Sperm counts worldwide are plummeting faster than we thought on Thursday December 01, 2022 @10:36AM (#33817643)
Yeah trying to avoid toxic chemicals as a consumer is nearly impossible. We've been doing a home renovation and have been attempting to use zero or low VOC products and it's incredibly difficult and expensive. The effort it requires to do the research and sourcing for every product you use in your life is basically impossible for most people.
The "Her" soundtrack is a good one.
HN readers should be perfect jury members then.
Re:Federal Reserve raises rates by 0.75% on Wednesday June 15, 2022 @05:37PM (#31759782)
> Yet, when you look at what Norway has actually produced over the past few decades in terms of innovation, companies, etc. the picture is very, very empty.

Do you have anything to back this claim up? Most of what I've searched about the Nordic countries in terms of innovation seems to disagree with this assertion.

Yeah it's too bad the US is such a poor country with no natural resources.
Re:Norway to track all supermarket purchases? on Monday June 13, 2022 @02:48PM (#31729845)
I'll take a prison like Norway over the lawless hellhole that the US is becoming.
Re:Norway to track all supermarket purchases? on Saturday June 04, 2022 @12:40PM (#31622456)
Well we don't really have a functional democracy in the US. That's really the core problem to fix before you can start trusting the government more.
