Re:New Grad to Staff at Meta in 3 years on Sunday December 15, 2024 @09:17AM (#42423499)
2 friends working in amazon in different projects, they new grads joined < 5 years. One of them just recently got L5 and second one recently got L6. They're both < 5 years of averall experience. I don't buy that sh*t that Meta is different. You just have to land in right projects with manager who likes you. That's it.

Same stuff in amazon, if you're lucky to get into new project, even if it's designed like shit (in my case), people got nice promos. As soon as it was delivered team left with new titles and now new team which alomst doesn't grow. 1 promo in 4 years.
Why they're affordable? I mean why other automakers can't have cheap cars but China can? There can't be any magic.
Those who are reluctant to feed their own army shall feed a foreign army.

If there is anything I can help you to get to your communist dream country let me know. Coz now it sounds like anti-vaccer with 3 vaccines.

Hm... leftists tales. 'As much as you want' - As much as you can afford. And this is completely different story.
Have a feeling that pushing security as priority is not trivial task. Even in cars: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=glmcMeTVIIQ&pp=ygUbdGhlIGZpZ2h...
Just watch hiw rhis will change. It's clear now that russian military is garbage (mostly).

For some reason it's not cheap. One box costs about a dollar and doesn't provide enough nutrition to justify purchase. Otherwise it's quite tasty.
To run space programs they'll need money. Even with resources they have running both war and space programs will lead to catastrophic consequences. But I suspect that's exactly the way they'll choose.
'ideal time' to do that. Lets see what others will do.
I did to Azure and Cloudflare. 0 responses. No one cares.
I've seen similar stuff in Publishing (news) and another big (popular) company at that time. Yes, Ru/Cn are not the only one, but if you work in security this is just one problem less to solve if you have those banned.

Silly question, but do you supplement Zinc? I've had something similar in yong age. I think it was fixed by Immune globulin injection. Yeah, I know it's strange, but for some reason it worked. Lately I've noticed that this stuff can come back if my immune system depressed. Sleep + Zinc usually helps.
If you're looking eagerly to replace human support with searches of someone from CF on HN to help... why not.
Read about 'Neutron Jack', this is what is happening just in way smaller scale for each company... at least for now.
Re:The energy crisis and Europe’s astonishing luck on Wednesday January 11, 2023 @11:06PM (#34349057)
If russia is so sanctions proof and it's so easy why no one want's to be on that side. Well, I think it's because russia's economy goes down. And this will be happening for years to come. Who will be buying their weapons now when it's clear it's mostly ussr garbage? Look what happens with Urals price. If you think they're ok you have no idea what's happening inside.

After my last change things got even worse. Well... except $$$. But it was promising in the beginning.
Re:PelotonCal on Monday December 26, 2022 @04:23PM (#34142037)
Sadly no. Well, probaby depends on person and what you like. But you'll be very disappointed if you consider Peloton to be something more than bike + tablet
You can, I was working on solution to have hashing 2 times - new, and later old algo. Salt can be either reused or you'll have to use 2 salts for each algo.

Re:Bipartisan Legislation to Ban TikTok on Tuesday December 13, 2022 @01:12PM (#33973158)
Well, I would rather follow the money. Ad budgets for the next year might consider this possibility and TikTok revenue will suffer.

Re:Video games made in the USSR (2020) on Sunday December 11, 2022 @05:22PM (#33948228)
Yeah, just 100k+ of wasted lives on single project only, but engineering worth it, right? https://soviethistory.msu.edu/1980-2/bam/
Re:Video games made in the USSR (2020) on Sunday December 11, 2022 @05:15PM (#33948177)
'second biggest industrial power' assume this is a joke. Poor quality: anything that was made was so bad, this habit is still alive and even russians hate their own products. Stealing: ancient car designs and engineering is good example. And as you know it never improved. Millions of lives were taken to achieve nonsense goals, people were starved, frozen, deprevated from food. What kind of human you have to be justify that? Well, but it didn't touch you or your family, so it's fine. Lets continue glorifying crazy stuff, we're just engineers, right?
