I wanted to try it out, so i fired it up on my laptop and my phone. The laptop experience was pleasant, but on the mobile, the ads seemed to be covering the nearby devices, and it felt like full scam-ware.

So close, yet, so far.

Am i the only one who still uses Pgpool ?
Re:A Trampoline on Thursday July 30, 2026 @03:24AM (#49106977)
haha. this made me laugh.

I didn't want a trampoline either and later realised that it was the best investment of my life. Do not buy the play-frame though - that's a waste of money.

Re:PgDog is funded and coming to a database near you on Wednesday June 10, 2026 @07:30PM (#48484231)
We are still using Pgpool-II and it's been very solid, but would be interested in moving to PgDog.

Would love to hear the advantages of moving to PgDog.

Using discord would save you a lot on hosting costs, especially when dealing with huge quantities of assets like images and videos.

Yes, lots of people don't like using Discord, but I can't even get it to work. Discord just tells me 'Unable to accept invite'
My only suggestion would be to make it obvious that you need to preview before you can download the PDF. I thought it was broken.

Even just a tooltip would help

Ask HN: Security checks on BYOD devices

I am running a small company that has about 16 employees, and currently everyone brings their own device which presents a security concern. Are there any affordable tools out there that will help me check if all my employees are running the latest operating system and security updates on their device (Mac & PC)?Does anyone have any other tips on how to make sure BYOD devices are secure?

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz Quad-core i5, 8GB RAM with Intel graphics card

  python3 image_from_text.py --text='a happy giraffe eating the world' --seed=7 154.61s user 22.18s system 262% cpu 1:07.40 total

WARNING:absl:No GPU/TPU found, falling back to CPU. (Set TF_CPP_MIN_LOG_LEVEL=0 and rerun for more info.)
As you can see, it took 1min 7seconds to complete.

I assume it would be much faster with a grunty graphics card

I had exactly the same issue

I just found out that you can hold option key while clicking on the wireless icon in OSX to get more details. * mind blown *
Re:What distinguishes great software engineers? (2019) [pdf] on Sunday November 15, 2020 @10:07PM (#25107528)
I'm surprised there is no reference to time estimation. An important part of their role is estimating how long a task will take to complete, and I've found many people, even engineers with a lot of experience, are terrible at this.
How will this affect analytics with tracking pixels, etc?
Re:Dbeaver – Multi-platform database tool on Thursday January 17, 2019 @06:13PM (#18935564)
I would feel uncomfortable saying the word 'beaver' at work.

Re:Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 iOS app on Monday November 12, 2018 @11:55PM (#18438704)
If you install this on iOS, you'll see a little 'VPN' icon in the top bar of your phone. Not sure if you can hide that though.

My advice would be to somehow indicate exactly the text that was expounded - maybe with a faint underline or something. When it expands out, it's sometimes difficult to track the exact words that suddenly appear.

Are there any ruby libraries that would depixel an image in a similar fashion?
