balac

Not for the same quality though. Ikea is convenient, but most items won't last.
Re:How Much Does a Mile of Road Cost? on Tuesday January 28, 2020 @04:21AM (#22167762)
Yeah, it works because a lot of motorways in Spain have two lanes, and people like to drive fast, so lane hogging isn't tolerated.
Re:Panic’s Next Editor on Wednesday April 17, 2019 @05:12AM (#19680945)
It was, as was Dreamweaver. Their point may be that those were WYSIWYG editors primarily, whereas Coda was a more pure "editor".
Re:React Router v5 on Thursday March 21, 2019 @04:56AM (#19450232)
I did the same as you, initially reach router seemed like a great alternative, but it really doesn't feel finished, updates are few and far inbetween, and there is a large backlog of open issues / PRs.
I'm using nave, also with no issues. A "why fnm vs nvim / nave" section in the readme would be useful.
Re:Homebrew 1.9.0 on Wednesday January 09, 2019 @06:55AM (#18864051)
I wonder why Linux users would want to use Homebrew? Are the packages not available via the normal Linux package managers?
This is a Show HN from the founder, so whilst is a repost, it isn't exactly the same thing.
Re:Ask HN: Who is hiring? (November 2017) on Thursday November 02, 2017 @12:32PM (#15611910)
That works as long as you share rent with 2 other people and have no kids, try supporting a family on that and things change.
Re:NeoVim 0.2.0 released on Tuesday May 02, 2017 @06:20AM (#14245269)
vim 8 also now supports asynchronous plugins (not sure how many have been upgraded though).
Re:Ask HN: Are download accelerators still a thing? on Thursday March 23, 2017 @04:48AM (#13938209)
I've also been using DownThemAll for a very long time, it does an excellent job and is one of the main reasons I still have Firefox installed at all.
Re:Ask HN: Why AWS SNS for mobile push notifications? on Friday March 10, 2017 @11:01AM (#13839567)
Yes, these type of services help get around the headache of supporting multiple platforms / versions of the same platform, and their different notification APIs.
Re:A static website with React on Friday February 17, 2017 @12:04PM (#13669777)
The arguments seem pretty clearly presented in the article. What part do you disagree with?
Re:Using tmux properly on Sunday February 05, 2017 @02:43AM (#13571386)
Yeah, I use https://github.com/tmux-plugins/tmux-continuum to auto save sessions, and https://github.com/tmux-plugins/tmux-resurrect to restore them when tmux is started.
Re:Using tmux properly on Saturday February 04, 2017 @03:42PM (#13568928)
Sessions are the killer feature for me. I have a session for each project I work on and can have all my tabs, panes, vim, etc set up and switch between them at any time. Sessions can be persisted so that even if I reboot my machine all my project workspace configurations are saved and ready to go.
Re:Ask HN: Every website wants to send me notifications on Thursday December 29, 2016 @03:16PM (#13279772)
> If a user denies the notification request then the site is never allowed to ask again

Sites will start doing what apps have been doing for a while on ios, use a custom dialog to ask for the permission until they agree, only then will they trigger the native, one time only dialog.

Re:Firebug lives on in Firefox DevTools on Tuesday December 20, 2016 @12:09PM (#13221697)
There isn't a compelling reason imo, you get a dark console theme, slightly nicer / slimmer browser chrome, and a newer version of FF than the normal stable release, I'm not sure much else is different though.
Re:Firebug lives on in Firefox DevTools on Tuesday December 20, 2016 @12:08PM (#13221683)
He is likely referring to: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/developer/?v=a

This is a developer focused edition of FF and shouldn't be unstable.

Re:Ask HN: What do you keep at/on/in your desk? on Friday November 18, 2016 @03:01PM (#12989640)
what dock do you use?
That is actually pretty neat, I've been wanting a macbook dock for ages and this is almost that...
Re:Ask HN: GUI Git client for macOS recommendations on Wednesday October 19, 2016 @07:03AM (#12742709)
GitUp is a good GitX replacement.
Re:Ask HN: GUI Git client for macOS recommendations on Wednesday October 19, 2016 @07:02AM (#12742705)
I have the same workflow as you and GitUp works great.

Re:Inside Automattic's Remote Hiring Process on Monday January 04, 2016 @12:52PM (#10837090)
It seems like the asynchronous approach that they take to interviews makes it easier to do more of them.
Re:Why is Apple search so terrible on all their products? on Friday November 06, 2015 @09:50AM (#10519706)
I wouldn't move to alfred for it's file search capabilities, in side by side tests spotlight is much better. Alfred does have many other uses though.
Re:Ask HN: What happened to Express.js? on Monday November 02, 2015 @08:15AM (#10491630)
It is how some open source projects work (e.g. Android).
Re:Httpie: A CLI http client on Tuesday October 20, 2015 @10:16AM (#10419253)
You don't have to stop using curl because httpie is available. I find httpie very intuitive for my own use, but would share curl commands with other devs as it is ubiquitous.
