What is a "digital economy"? There is only one economy as far as I know. Division of company inputs into software and non-software is arbitrary and has no merit as far as I can see.
The rebuilt was motivated by preserving architecture important for national identity (which was something Polish communist authorities did buy into), not aesthetics.
6 man-months is a tiny project by standards of companies like Google.

A bubble bursting might stop plowing further hundreds of billions into data centers and redirect that money into something with more societal use.
Racism is believing that people can be divided into races (spoiler alert: races don't exist, ask a scientist) and, not only that, but also than some of those made up races are better than others.

I disabled all animations in iOS. I don't need the distraction anyway. I hope they don't take away this function in future releases..
There are always ambitious people who are not happy to be paid as much as everyone else. In capitalism, they start companies or climb career ladders in existing ones. In communism, they join the communist party, where (since the party has totalitarian power over the country) it's trivial for them to just assign unproportionately large share of the pie to themselves - the difficult part is winning at politics game to attain sufficient power within the party. Basically total dysfunction that has nothing to do with productive society - that's why every single one implementation of communism had poor results and lead to people overthrowing it one way or another.
Uber presumably needs a ton of personel in each country that handles all the driver-related paperwork etc.
Mature businesses like e.g. tire or appliances manufacturers still have some R&D trying to make their products better. However, it may be more for appearances than for actual improvements, just because consumers like to buy a "new fancy model" over a tire or a dishwasher that have been in the market for 20 years (believing the new thing must be better).

Also, FPS is a done to death concept that has plenty of repos for LLMs to take snippets from. A better test would be trying to vibe-coding an original game (e.g. something like Miegacure) and see how well LLM does, even when you give it well-defined goal and constraints. My guess is that would fail miserably.
They probably are, but only if you try new games, new maps, new strategies constantly - anything to get your brain plasticity working. Killing monsters in Diablo for 10 years in a row probably hastens the decline if anything.
Dogs are Bayesian thinkers.
Are you saying they aren’t? Then why in CS majors there are usually 5-10 men for every woman?

It’s merely what’s wrong with Silicon Valley investment culture. 99% of the world operates more sanely.

The are largely concentrated around Moscow to defend the "brain" of the country, as well as personally Putin himself.

Drone units require good eyesight, reflexes, spatial orientation etc. FPS gamers are the best match, not coders.

I think the issue in physical work are mainly repeated strain on joints and back. Human body was not built to endure so much repeated strain.
That’s the purpose of the bonds themselves, not bond markets. Government could just as well issue bonds without bond markets existing (so that they cannot be bought or sold).
China has extremely low fertitily rate given that they haven't yet reached the status of a developed country (which Taiwan, SK and Singapore have reached).
Ancient Rome had libraries already, I'm pretty sure their "ethos" wasn't about inclusivity and safe spaces. Somewhere along the line from then to now, it got subverted.

That's income, not wealth though. Some wealthy people don't have very high incomes.

Pirating is basically unlicensed use.
> The best outcomes come from distributing power as widely as possible to people who are affected the most, aka worker ownership.

Is there any evidence of this claim being true?

Most follow the herd, but there are often noticeable exceptions. See e.g. how Toyota refused to jump on the electric vehicle bandwagon and stuck to hybrid engines. Or Mazda, which didn't even do hybrid.
Re:Ask HN: Why is AI civil tech and not military first? on Friday August 28, 2026 @08:47AM (#49477757)
> Military technology will produce innovation in wartime but in peacetime it is a backwater.

The Internet and GPS were directly invented as a military technology with civilian usage allowed only much later. Integrated circuits's invention and development was largely done on military's dime as well.

Machiabelli was a big Florence patriot and was writing his advice specifically to help a prince better govern Florence and hence increase the chance that Florence will not be annihilated in the constant wars that raged on the Italian Peninsula at the time.

Re:The Two Factions of C++ on Wednesday August 19, 2026 @07:47AM (#49360245)
Lack of support for type-safe containers (need to be hack toghether via macros) and overreliance on macros in general (which are not IDE and debugger friendly) are two aspects of C that are off-putting for majority of people in 2026. That's even assuming you're willing to forego pointer/memory safety.

I don't know about other countries, but in Poland you're just not required to cut down your lawn at all, unless it's a fire hazard (you have a lot of dead and dried up plants).
