That is a lot of time to work for free. Why not get a regular job and convince your employer to let you contribute to Open Source project they use.
Sure they should address this but this is a bit crazy.
Group sms works great. But you or someone should take charge and summarize the conversation/plan as last a text.
My friends use group texts a lot but sometimes conversation gets out of hand and I have to read through 100 messages to find out if there were any concrete plans.
When I was making $60K, my laptop cost about $500. So did my other co-workers who made similar amount. It was exception for anyone to by $1K+ laptop and then everyone talked about how there $500 laptop was faster than that.
Absolutely not how real world works. As an online harassment victim, you may never know even know that it is happening online. But all your classmates would know.
The sites might have lies about you or they might even have your real data. Someone might post your real photos; discussing your body, your fashion sense, or whatever that makes you loser.
You are a broke college kid. Good luck finding a lawyer who would help you find anonymous posters and then sue them.
In mean time, your social life is being destroyed. Online harassment seeps into the real world. Your classmates make fun of you in your earshot. You can complain about it once or twice but school get tired of it and stop taking you seriously.
You will get depressed and sducidal unless you have a strong support system. Even then you will have poor grades, you might quit school. Your life is being ruined because people believe in black n white definition of freedom of speech.
Perhaps we should recognize that there are shades of grey. We cannot harass someone in physical world without getting kicked out of establishment or getting arrested.
Maybe we should go after platforms that let online harassment happen on their platform. After all they are profiting off your data, why shouldn't they be held responsible to police their platform better.
That is like saying schools should not punish bullies, let the victim sue the bullies.
Wow.. this is my wife right now. I feel like I cannot say anything around her because she will take it wrong way. We just watch TV and don't really talk. We may talk about paying bill or picking up groceries but nothing serious or something I really want to talk about.
I am not sure what my next steps should be.
This why, at least, Techsavy people should avoid depending on centralized services for their work.
Swift - Wanted to get into iOS apps but ran out of steam.
React - No option, work required it. Starting to enjoy it finally.
To be honest, don't voluntarily give any negative information. Don't lie if someone asks directly about criminal background.
Normally, job application is filled out after hiring manager makes an offer. This where you might need to fill out any felonies. If during this phase something goes wrong, I would not hold it against you. And if someone does, you tell them you have been working for 20 years at different jobs and didn't think your felony was an issue anymore.
One of these days, I will ask someone from HR about this.
Personally, I would not care so much but I work for a big company and background check is done by HR. I only ask technical and work related questions.
HR tend to be risk averse but I cannot really say what their policies are. In my company, I have never heard of anyone who was made an offer by hiring manager, had that offer rescinded after background check.
Also if you volunteer your felony during interview and I have another strong candidate, I will probably go with them. That is because I would be afraid that HR will not allow us to go with you and we will waste everyone's time. I rather go with safer option.
Horrible position to take. He was bullied and bullies deserve to be punished.
Recent suicide of 9 year old because bullying had sparked debate in our office. And most agreed her bullies and parents of bullies should be charged criminally.
If you follow right person perhaps. A lot of it is full of people just talking about what stocks to buy.

Are there any high quality communities that discuss trading especially swing trading? There is /r/wallstreetbets which while funny but is full of too much noise. My friends and I have a Whatsapp group to discuss our trading. We share our trading ideas but we mostly share other topics related to trading (promotions, tutorials, news, brokerages, books). We are pretty exclusive and try not to let...
I do. But we are in minority, I see my non-tech friends giving up their info in all kind of stupid apps, even when it is optional.
Never took a job with "unlimited vacation" but had interviews with a few of such companies. Right now, I get 4 weeks off with unlimited sick time.
So during interviews, I asked them about "unlimited" vacation policy and how many days they took off last year. It is almost always less than 20 days. When I asked them why they didn't take more days off and that I got 4 weeks of vacation plus a few days of sick time off. They usually make up excuses like it was unusually busy year, don't feel the need for more vacation, or it is still more than most people took off last year.
Or sometimes they are honest and say that they feel guilty asking for more time off, hard to get approval for 3rd week off, they rather have fixed number of vacation and not feel guilty about using all of it.
This is so much me. I can whip out quick scripts to do simple tasks. But really don't enjoy other dev aspects such as polishing apps to looks and behave nicer, unit tests, etc. I need to look into this. Thanks for great morning motivation!
This is tough.
A lot of great love stories happens at work. Recently, my wife and I were listening to Obama's Audacity of Hope and Phil Knight's Shoe Dog. Obama pestered Michelle until she agreed to go out with him. Phil Knight hired Penny when she was a student in his class cause she was cute. Then went out with her while he was her boss. They both are married to same person still. My wife thought it was so cute.
But there is so much risk involved. Personally, I never did pursue anyone at work. It is probably because I care about my career.
Also initially you think that crush is the one and you will never find anyone else as perfect as them. But then after a few months when crush is gone, and you can see all the flaws in that person and you are glad you didn't risk your job and career for them.
Even technical managers have hard time understanding technology they are not familiar with.
I agree. I also like to bookmark pages to read later. I hate it when I am required to go through additional step to open a page in web browser.
In Google Chrome, you have to type in the address of website you are visiting. It is a lot of different if Chrome showed content from other sites without you specifically requesting it and without showing URL of those articles.
I have seen of lot of funny or meme apps which rip content off same popular websites. I think it unfair to operator of such sites. A lot of these app will show their ads, but won't pull in ads of publisher.
I got 10.5" iPad Pro. I know it is expensive and not up to your requirements but I do find it very enjoyable for reading books and pdfs. Though it is pretty heavy for extended use.
Blink Shell and VPS is the only real way to do any programming on iPad.
However, I love the form factor of 10.5" so much that this has become my preferred of way of doing any "fun" programming. For work and serious projects, I still fire up MBP.

While we are discussing popular blogs for iOS, what are great blogs for Android?I personally love Fragmented podcast.
Personally, I don't rate immediately after visiting a restaurant/business. I would rate them while bored at home or standing in a line. So if he posted multiple reviews in a few minutes, it doesn't mean that he never visited those places.
Unfortunately, this is a reality. I am part of a small team where we moved pretty fast.
We used to write our own stories in Jira and they were mostly one liners. They have now implemented so many required fields to fill out. Filing out one story might take 30 minutes.
And the management has implemented a mix of waterfall and agile methodology.
It is combination of worst of both worlds. We are asked to plan our next 10 or more sprints. Assign points to each story. And then we are asked to justify points to management. It is a big mess. In a week, we might spend 20+ hours on planning and planning to plan bullshit.
I fought this as much as I could. But in the end, I realized that this is losing battle. All we can do is work with them and help them justify their jobs and our jobs.
We have stories for planning stories. We have stories for reading documentation. We have stories for breaks. Oh I want to cry.
But good thing is if you work with system and make your team look super busy, you will get big bonuses and pay raises. Kind of like in real world, you can write the cleanest code but if you don't write features that customer want and brag about your product, you will not get paid for it.
I am assuming anyone who is going to self-host will be able to use Docker. Perhaps will need to look up some documentation. But maybe I am missing something, why would it not be good way to distribute SaaS app?
Perhaps build Docker images??
My ex-boss had an offer rescinded when he declared his personal IP on the form provided by the company. He had told interviewers about his significant IP/projects. Interviewers thought that was no problem.
On the first day of his job, he filled out a form declaring his current IP. Some HR/lawyer reviewed it and a week later he was let go. No real reason was given. But he spent his first week answering questions related to his projects, so it is pretty obvious they were worried about it.
