Re:Building the New Twitter.com on Thursday July 18, 2019 @05:31PM (#20474110)
I want to see all tweets of the people I follow. Precisely because I decided to follow them. It's the whole point of the site for me. Seeing all the updates from accounts I care about.
No, that gives almost zero information as to the known cause:

> A technical incident in the Galileo ground infrastructure is affecting the functioning of the Galileo system, as a result of which there is a temporary interruption of some of the Galileo initial services.

> The cause of the technical incident is identified and recovery actions are implemented to ensure that the nominal service is resumed as soon as possible while safeguarding quality of the services.

There are lots of opposites in the features table. Which of those are important to me as a data analyst and gamer?
In Germany there was a recent ruling that scraping, even for competing purposes, is fine.

Re:VAIO announces tiny laptop with tons of ports on Sunday July 14, 2019 @05:33AM (#20432574)
Yeah, I am not sure what is so special about this. I expected some truly unique ports. My 13.3" Fujitsu Siemens S936 has no USB-C (age) but all the others plus a smartcard and a sim card slot. 12.5" is not exactly a magnitude smaller.

He also developed Hoare logic for verifying program correctness, and the formal language communicating sequential processes (CSP) to specify the interactions of concurrent processes (including the dining philosophers problem) and the inspiration for the occam programming language.

Does iOS do anything to prevent this?
The state is made up by the people it represents so by this, society benefits as whole.
They do it because you should let them spy on you.

FYI before you scroll down to gauge the length and interestingness of the story, you have to click "read more" on the top. What a messy website.
Re:Open Source Game Clones on Thursday June 06, 2019 @12:52PM (#20116366)
Not too useful in its current form as it freely mixes third-party engines with actual free games.
And rightfully so! Privacy is a right of utmost importance and for a surveillance product should be a cornerstone of its design.
Re:Pi-hole: A black hole for Internet advertisements on Thursday May 30, 2019 @10:25AM (#20051418)
Pi-Hole is a very simple DNS based blocker. You can not whitelist ad providers on a origin basis.
There is no damage being done by ad blocking, please don't use such language.

You were lost some where in the thread above. I totally agree but that's not what we were discussing here.

That's the site's decision. You also cannot easily download images from Twitter if there are more than one in a tweet for example. On Instagram it is blocked all in all.

Re:Alpine Linux Docker images have NULL for root password on Wednesday May 08, 2019 @06:14PM (#19863496)
That is very likely due to processor/architecture optimized precompiled Python. See e.g. https://clearlinux.org/blogs/transparent-use-library-package... and https://clearlinux.org/blogs/boosting-python-profile-guided-...
Re:Estimating Number of Jupyter Notebooks on Github on Wednesday May 08, 2019 @05:48PM (#19863307)
You made Kyso for making GitHub-hosted Jupyter Notebooks render when accessed with a web browser on github.com?

You are right, I would not say that to a person in meatspace and I should not say things like that to people on the internet either.

But:

Looking at their other articles gives me the impression of a content creator that just pollutes the internet for keywords, potentially paid-for.

Just look at https://heartbeat.fritz.ai/ , which this random assortment of code snippets was compiled for, it's all just keyword stuffing as promotion for fritz.ai, plain and simple.

And oh look, nicely delayed submissions of article after article by OP: https://news.ycombinator.com/submitted?id=salma-ghoneim
