Thanks for the response! We can definitely do a better job in that area.

We're all about providing the simplest way for you to get to the data and analysis you need without having to buy or even deal with the whole enchilada. But we've still got some things to figure out on how we get people from A -> B -> C when they don't discover us organically, and that's going to be one of our main focuses over the next several months.

...and from another co-founder of the startup formerly known as Untitled Startup... thanks everyone for the awesome support and insight that turned a few guys with a crazy idea into a real company.
Re:Twitter API bug still not fixed 3 years later on Thursday January 13, 2011 @04:27PM (#2101386)
It's my understanding that this isn't really a bug as much as it's an infrastructure limitation (search index is separate and in many ways still legacy from Summize). To change it, would likely require a lot more than just fixing a bug. I figure they're just investing in a new search engine in general that will take care of the issue.

you can hack it to... but it's dirty. just use something else.
Re:See who has OAuth Tokens to Access Your Google Account on Wednesday October 13, 2010 @03:03PM (#1788414)
Unless I'm mistaken, some of those I only granted single use tokens to, so they don't actually still have access.

Yeah it's a good point. We thought about it a lot, and found that the games simply never ended if we let you go everywhere. But up to the last minute, it was still hotly debated.

All awesome feedback, look for it in v2!

PS: Heroku just crashed on us.

matthew and mseebach,

Thanks for the comments on Untitled Startup! The 99 designs competition was from 3 weeks ago. Since then we've started narrowing down our goals, products, and interests (check out the whiteboard in the first video from 1/6/10).

As we progress and actually start really formulating them and going in a direction, we'll be focusing on sharing that with everyone.

Re:Twitter/Weather Mashup I put together over a few nights. on Sunday December 21, 2008 @06:50PM (#405871)
Unfortunately, due to the unreliability of the weather bug api, i've had to switch to the weather underground api which makes this much more difficult. Currently working on this.
Re:Twitter/Weather Mashup I put together over a few nights. on Sunday December 21, 2008 @06:21PM (#405844)
There is a whole ton of logic in there uses the current forecast, weather alerts, etc then determines based on keywords it finds what terms users might be talking about.

Unforunately weatherbug is struggling right now so it's not working as good as it should be. I'm switching to weather underground as we speak.

You're 100% correct. But I'm hoping they'll add the ability to use filters on the whole firehose in the near future.
Re:Twitter/Weather Mashup I put together over a few nights. on Saturday December 20, 2008 @11:07PM (#405167)
Good call. It really shouldn't be hard at all, i can query weather bug with a UnitType parameter depending on the location.

Thanks!

Just geolocation with ip.
Re:Twitter/Weather Mashup I put together over a few nights. on Saturday December 20, 2008 @05:42PM (#404901)
I definitely plan on switching to gnip. As i said, tweetweather is just something I put together after work the past week, grabbing from the search api was the quick and easy solution to getting tweets into the system.

Gnip rocks.

Re:Twitter/Weather Mashup I put together over a few nights. on Saturday December 20, 2008 @02:57PM (#404757)
Thanks! Yea it's definitely imperfect, but I'm limited by the functionality of the twitter search api, what i have been doing and what I can improve on is filtering out of common terms that involve weather related words, so for instance "ice cream", or in your case "cold brewed", which I am about to add to the exclusion list. granted this whole app has only about 15 hours of dev in it, so such a list is going to be FAR from perfect.
