> DHH, you're not welcome in the Nuxt community, because you say that Black people aren't 'native Brits' and call for the mass deportation of 'gypsies'.

100% agree. Niceness is NOT for white supremacists, and no, I am not debating whether DHH's politics are fascist-adjacent or what % of them are pure fascism.

DHH's politics and the man himself will get only shunning and ridicule from me. He's, after all, one of the weird little guys of FOSS: https://drewdevault.com/weird-guys/

DHH has the capacity to assess that going full on white supremacist is still relatively frowned upon, so he does only as much as he thinks he can get away with.

Sponsoring his badly made OSS and giving him any type of a limelight will only embolden him and the likes of him. I personally want nothing to do with him and anything he touches.

We are already reverting to OSS local models.
Any newly produced AI code is immediately legacy and trash at the same time.
Re:Google's Antigravity Bait and Switch on Thursday May 21, 2026 @11:07AM (#48224033)
I also have a great experience with Google account reps.

Other companies usually have a soulless void of an automatic system which gives you no confirmation your messages and inquiries are received whatsoever. Not Google. There is always a human on the other side so you know you are in good hands. Trust and connection are the things I value the most in this very two sided relationship.

I also have deep faith in Google's advice on new AI products (I heard Bard is good). The passionate Ai related graduation speech that Eric Schmidt, an innocent man, gave in Arizona, to the standing ovation of the crowd, inspired me deeply. I am now an even bigger Google fan than I ever was.

They will deal with it alright.

It's only so many speeches like this before the boos turn into other things.

Let me get this straight.

Finance ministers are concerned about a made up marketing hype thing that nobody has seen nor verified.

Finance ministers, on the other hand, have no concerns about real verified scientific impending disasters like global warming?

To me that just means we need different finance ministers who have their priorities straight.

> Both sides should be able to end employment for any reason whatsoever

What an uninformed take! That's why we have labor laws and such a thing as "wrongful termination" exists.

Re:The bottleneck now is reviewing code, not writing it on Monday March 16, 2026 @06:08PM (#47405645)
The bottleneck is and always has been writing good code, so reviewing is as important as ever. Interestingly enough, LLMs help tremendously with writing code but severely impact writing good code, so nothing has changed.

NFTs and crypto were also the future.

More work for the people who like to fix tech debt.

I see it more as dumpster fire setting a whole mountain of garbage on fire while a bunch of simians look at the flames and make astonished wuga wuga noises.

Re:Rob Pike got spammed with an AI slop "act of kindness" on Friday December 26, 2025 @03:03PM (#46395635)
Lets turn this into an accountability thing please.

The same way we name and shame petrol and plastic CEOs whose trash products flood our environment, we should be able to shame slop makers. Digital trash is still trash.

> People generalizing about how bad LLMs are at coding are often doing it out of a very unusual perspective (like J Blow) or doing it out of bad faith.

Thats why the only study up to date on developer productivity with AI shows 19% reduction of productivity and the most up to date study on LLM usage in the enterprise show that 95% of projects with LLMs fail.

I'd say its bad faith to claim LLMs are useful considering all studies so far show the opposite.

Re:GPT-5-Codex is a better AI researcher than me on Tuesday October 07, 2025 @09:28AM (#45502817)
Ah, another weekly AI booster article from the AI booster gang.

Hate to break it to you, but if GPT-5 is better AI researcher than you, you were probably not that good to begin with.

Does Codex tell you why 95% of AI projects in the enterprise fail? Or why the only study up to date on merits of AI for coding shows 19% decrease of productivity.

"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power"

Is a quote often wrongly attributed to Mr. Fascism Benito Mussolini himself, but whoever said it had made a damn good point. Be aware that what you are seeing now fits the exact and precise definition of fascism.

It's amusing seeing the US descend so quickly in pure unadulterated fascism and the amount of denial and attempts to sugar coat it or window dress in places like HN. Then forums like this will go dark, and next thing you know, the brownshirts from the modern Gestapo/Stasi/ICE would be knocking on your door.

Make no mistake about Google and Apple: moderating anti fascist apps or content is abetting fascism (that applies to HN mods as well).

Re: on Thursday October 02, 2025 @05:42PM (#45455958)
You are basically saying that regardless of criticisms and international condemnation, Israel has no choice but commit war crimes and genocide? This is like "look what you made me do" defence in court, not sure it will save genocider Netanyahu from rotting in the Hague jail.

Nor would it stop us from boycotting Israel and calling out their genocide.

Re:Why Tech Inevitability is Self-Defeating on Wednesday October 01, 2025 @02:34PM (#45441422)
There is also a great article about the same subject from Tom Renner: https://tomrenner.com/posts/llm-inevitabilism/

Sam, Elon, Zuck are conmen, husks of people, empty inside and not knowing what to do with themselves but hoard money. In their pointless quest to become the proverbial dragon on a mountain of gold, they are trying to control, bully and manipulate the world to their vision of how it should be.

We know how this goes:

- Facebook contributed to multiple atrocities and genocides, actively promoted warlords and dictators

- Twitter after being acquired from Musk is just an echo chamber of fascism and white supremacy and misinformation

- Sam...is just..a slimy dude. He made a coup in something that was supposed to be free and open, and made it ugly and about money and profits, riding on the work of idealists and forgetting all his pledges and manifestos just in the pursuit of money

Those people rising to power and prominence is not inevitable. If only they had childhood validation, I think they might have turned out to be normal people and done less harm to the world. Sadly, they were probably neglected as children or dropped on their head repeatedly. I blame the parents.

Re:Vercel CEO meets with Netanyahu to discuss AI education on Monday September 29, 2025 @03:31PM (#45417776)
I was looking for more reasons not to use the piece of flaming garbage that Next has become since Vercel made it great again. I didn't expect actively supporting + making a selfie with war criminal and genocider Netanyahu would be my extra reason not to use Next, but here we are.
Re:Failing to Understand the Exponential, Again on Sunday September 28, 2025 @10:32AM (#45404609)
Failing to acknowledge we are in a bigger and more dangerous bubble, again.

If AI was so great, why all curl hackerone submissions have been rejected? Slop is not a substitute of skill.

Re:Getting AI to work in complex codebases on Tuesday September 23, 2025 @01:40PM (#45350344)
Why though. Why should we do that?

If AI is so groundbreaking, why do we have to have guides and jump through 3000 hoops just so we can make it work?

Actually studies show that it makes most Seniors weaker: https://metr.org/blog/2025-07-10-early-2025-ai-experienced-o...

Like 19% weaker, according to the only study to date that measured their productivity.

On HN there was another post about DOJ going against the guy who made the anti-ICE app: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44496458 and it's also flagged, which is a pity.

This book might be relevant for those trying to understand why and how fascists attempt to control the narrative by suppression of the free press, erasure of documents, and nowadays hiding and flagging posts on social media and popular RSS feeds: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/207294076-erasing-histor...

Re:AI hype is masking recession signals in the market on Monday September 15, 2025 @06:30PM (#45255754)
I can't wait for the bubble to burst.

Mostly because I hope it will stop the neverending onslaught of articles and blog posts on HN from folks who giddily insist on telling the world how Claude changed their life and how now they can produce bad code 10x faster than before.

Re:The AI-Scraping Free-for-All Is Coming to an End on Sunday September 14, 2025 @06:29PM (#45243928)
Next: the AI bubble is coming to an end. Also fingers crossed that the career and employment of Mark Zuckerberg also follow suit soon.
With AI everyone is a net loser.

People using it get dumber.

What is being produced is slop and discardable poc-like trash

The environmental costs of building and training LLMs are huge. That compute and water could have been useful for something.

Even the companies building and peddling AI are losers. They are not profitable, need constant billions of dollars of financial help to even syay afloat and pay their compute depth.

The worst part is that even bigger losers will be the general population. Not only are our kids gonna be dumber than us thanks to never having to think for themselved, but our pensions are tied to the stock market that will inevitably collapse when the realization that the top 30% of companies in terms of value are just dominoes waiting to collapse.

But the biggest loser of all is Elon Musk. Just because of who he is.

> That Hamas are the enemy in a war. It's a serious problem. Wars are like that.

The 20k children Israel murdered are also Hamas, right? Hitler also thought the same about the Jewish children he murdered during the Holocaust. War crimes are war crimes, genocide is genocide.

> A disgrace that Qatar "hosts" the Hamas leaders, and that the Iranian regime funds the whole lot.

The irony is that wanted war criminal Netanyahu himself can't be "hosted" in the most of the free world, cause there is a warrant for his arrest.

> Meanwhile, my approach is grounded in a singular idea: That Hamas are the enemy in a war. It's a serious problem. Wars are like that.

And my approach is grounded on the singular idea: Israel is doing a genocide and genocide is bad.

> Because you hate him? It’s really clear you do care a lot about his opinions

I don't care about a dead white supremacist nor their fascist opinions. Republicans sure like to shoot one another and others (Tyler Robinson's parents are registered Republicans) https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cp8wl2y66p9o. My hot conspiracy theory is that maybe Charlie's death stems from a lover's between him and Tyler.

Actually, Charlie's death does give me some ideas, so maybe something good did come out of his existence. He gave me a great idea for a Halloween costume! I think this year I am gonna go with a costume as a hole in the throat: https://www.nydailynews.com/wp-content/uploads/migration/202...

> No he didn’t, he quoted the bible saying that - thanks for posting a video to clear it up. It’s true. The bible does say that.

Job 34:26-27: "He punishes the wicked for their wickedness out in the open where everyone can see it"

https://www.bible.com/bible/compare/JOB.34.26-27

Charlie was struck out in the open in front of his family and televised for the whole world to see. Make your own conclusions. Just saying.

> I suspect you’re very young and not good at arguing so I’m going to bow out now.

Yup, take the L. Lot of the people on the right (including Charlie) are taking in a lot of things at these turbulent times. Thoughts and prayers.

I realize I didn't share this catchy song that I found recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CI3lhyNKfo. God bless!

Re:Ireland will not participate in Eurovision if Israel takes part on Saturday September 13, 2025 @08:02AM (#45231383)
> Let Israel finish it, THEN if they don't leave and help rebuild

Nope, not gonna let Israel finish it. Also, not gonna stop speaking to call out their constant war crimes.

> but not before during the war, that's just flotilla levels of useless.

Nah, during the war. When war crimes happen during a war, they need to be called out immediately and the war criminals held to justice immediately. Of course, Israel shoots the journalists trying to document their war crimes, but that's okay. We are piecing it together.

> Protests in Israel would be maxed out if Israel were committing actual genocide.

They are. Look at these videos;

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/G-0V1HroyAU

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok9rsMSPTr0

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/0Zrag4Mt6mQ

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmowPj6ImK0

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/4LOA02GSnik

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiK0Hm6jDq0

There have been hundreds of protests everywhere: in Israel, worldwide. Including the MP in Israeli parliament that I just shared: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMVLt_ncn7E

But of course, genocide apologists will brush those off. It's not enough, or they are staged, or fake news. Anything to stall. I don't expect anything less from genocide apologists. Again, the Nazis were not stopped peacefully, and I don't expect Israel's genocide to be stopped peacefully. And I am okay with that.
