I recently found the youtube channel Tasting History with Max Miller and I would highly recommend checking it out.

If this post caught your eye, I think you will find it very interesting, wholesome and worth the sub.

Haha, definitely agree on this and great idea on exposing a timeframe for different stages, will definitely look into getting this implemented.

It would also be really cool if it showed (instead of a timeframe set by the recruiter) the actual median time for that stage for others, but I'm not sure if recruiters would be comfortable not having "control" of that number.

But even a recruiter/company set timeframe would definitely help the candidate understand and I think would still help keep the recruiters honest.

Thanks for the feedback!

Hi HN, Andrew here, would love any feedback, whether its on the hiring/recruiting side or from the candidate perspective.

You need to signup to dive into the recruiter side, but you can see a preview of the candidate experience without any login at https://drumcircle.io/sample-experience

Show HN: Drumcircle – Personalized candidate landing pages for better interviews

I spent the last 4 years as an engineering leader at a high growth startup, where almost half my time focused on hiring and the hiring process to grow the team. That lead me to build Drumcircle to try and help bring better candidate experience through a "magic link" landing page for candidates. Internally, you might have Greenhouse with all the stages, interview notes, files, invites, etc but...

Cool! This is actually way over my head, but sent it to my wife (who studied linguistics) and she thinks its amazing.

Been fun/interesting seeing so many of the wordle mixups popping up.

If this thread is anywhere, I would bet its on flyertalk (awesome air travel forum with great info).

I thought this might be interesting and relevant to HN as the first product of a new startup with the goal of expanding into a full fledged CPG company out of SV.

I also thought the launch, marketing and focus on men and women of color were interesting. Maybe I should have posted this link instead which provides some extra context

He also has a new book on Amazon that is basically the book version of his Ask The Pilot column.

I actually just read it the other day and was pretty interesting (and a quick read)

Re:CEO Fights Feds: Save Our Balls on Monday August 06, 2012 @06:46PM (#4347715)
I completely disagree.

Living in a civilization is about joining a social contract to not infringe on each others rights. (theft, rape, murder, etc infringe on the victims rights, where as buying Bucky Balls does not affect anyone but the purchaser)

No it is not. The choice is freedom. Giving up freedom for perceived safety is never worth it.

Thank you.

It is getting really frustrating that people took the joke (that really wasn't ever that funny) and took it for truth.

Re:Re. No NDAs: What Should Idea People Do? on Friday April 20, 2012 @12:27PM (#3868562)
While this article was more about web, it immediately made me think of the game industry. So many people would always tell me they wanted to get into the game industry to be the "idea guy" and come up with games.

What they never seemed to understand is that coming up with ideas is not the hard part. The real hard part is finding time, skills and actually shipping. Hell, take a 20 person game dev company, and they could come up with 100 game ideas before the end of the day, and they will be just as good and original as the idea guys (probably better actually since they have more context and experience)

We (atleast I) became developers because we had ideas and we wanted to make those a reality. I literally have had hundreds of web and game ideas and so has every other developer.

We are in an "idea bubble"... There are far too many people who cannot create, and simply have ideas, and we can already see this starting to erode when you examine how hard it is for "idea founders" to get others to work on their project.

No developer anywhere has said "If I just had an idea of something to do"

Both of those are on our radar, thanks!

Oops! thanks for the input, we are planning on improving the autocomplete for cities in a few ways, added this to the last, thanks!

Blocks8 is correct about the source. We are looking into both getting more/better sources of photos as well as improving how we select and reveal these images to the user so that we are showing the best and most relevant images

Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback, you called out a bunch of interesting points!

The AJAX loader for cities preloading some results resonates strongly with me and will hopefully be implemented soon as we work on tightening the UX. Facebook(among plenty of others) does this for friend search and it makes a huge difference in the experience of using that search.

That is something that has been on my radar forever and was just waiting for me to find a free weekend to code out the script to set everything up.

I finally found a free minute and got it all setup so it should be live this week

Thanks for the feedback!
