The author is coming from astrophysics where this is not the case. The major publications are operated from learned societies or public entities (RAS in UK, AAS in the US, ESO in Europe etc ...)

What elections are you having in mind?
Counting should still be open to the public. In small places like embassies they may limit the number of people for security reasons.

That is true above 50 km/h right? In many european cities you drive below that. In many French cities the max speed is even 30 km/h. Then EVs are much quietee.

Some of the ArtCraft are really nice. As a loooong time linux user for instance, the PDF app is excellent compared to the alternatives. I am really looking forward to more Linux native quality software

Funny enough I paid for Berkeley Mono but its italic is just not up to it (and particularly not to the price). Iosevka Mono has very nice glyphs but just way too narrow for my taste. JetBrains Mono, IBM Plex Mono (or Lilex) or Roboto Mono just seem to work much better for my tired eyes !

I think it is a sensible idea, as a matter of fact, I think journals should do it too, maybe even more strict. Because the hike in submission means more burden for the peer-reviewers -- and this work is done (so far) for free.

Nice result, but I find they are selling it a bit too much. I'd rather call it an exoplanet (orbiting a brown dwarf orbiting a star).

My phone (Teracube) is running /e/OS now for 2 years. Nearly everything works out of the box (bank apps, e-identity apps etc ..). The only issue I have is that the app I use to take contactless payment on the phone via NFC does not work (while it works using Android).

I think an unsung hero in making open source broadly known and adopted in France is Framasoft [https://framasoft.org/en/], a non-profit association. They have since many many years an initiative to de-google internet and provide free and hosted alternatives and resources.

I work at a French research institute and our Zoom contract ends soon so we get to switch to Visio. It's not too bad but quite tier below Zoom. Noise cancellation is not great, being browser based also comes with limitations, in half my meetings people don't manage to find the permissions to allow mic and/or webcam ...
