congratulations on shipping. Do you feel like Claude will ever roll this into their own roadmap?
Good to have content shared about non-founding operators: the oil that makes startup machines run.
Yes! Finally. Feature request: user generated time-synced commenting Breaker, Genius.com-esque?

Amazon Prime does this, no. In the Amazon iOS app, you can browse, but cannot buy items. You can still login using your Prime account.

Wouldn't dismiss this so quickly. True, nothing grand in the post. But, the piece about the Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman fight was insightful.

TL;DR Summary of OP's reading of this book Nonsense: The Power of Not Knowing, a recent book by Jamie Holmes

For those who haven't picked up Art of Insight in Science and Engineering, table of contents here:

"This book shows you how to build insight and understanding first, so that you do not drown in complexity. Therefore, our approach will not be rigorous -- for rigor easily becomes rigor mortis or paralysis by analysis"

If you live in the SF Bay Area, Detroit, Austin, DC, Pittsburg or Chandler, I disagree. Try the TechShop and its host of classes.

Re:U.S. tells Google computers can qualify as drivers on Tuesday February 09, 2016 @11:42PM (#11070811)
The specific letter from NHTSA to Google:

http://isearch.nhtsa.gov/files/Google%20--%20compiled%20resp...

... along with an abbreviation I have yet to see previously:

>> self-driving vehicles (SDVs)

... and their definition of a Level 4 vehicle:

>> Google describes its vehicles as having what NHTSA's May 2013 Preliminary Statement of Policy Concerning Automated Vehicles calls Level 4 Full Self-Driving Automation. According to that Statement, a Level 4 vehicle:

>> is designed to perform all safety-critical driving functions and monitor roadway conditions for an entire trip. Such a design anticipates that the driver will provide destination or navigation input, but is not expected to be available for control at any time during the trip. This includes both occupied and unoccupied vehicles. By design, safe operation rests solely on the automated vehicle system.

"After raising $9 million in private financing rounds, Replay – led by co-founder and CEO Oren Haimovitch-Yogev – went on to sign multi-year agreements with American teams, such as the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. They have also installed cameras in the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro after signing a deal with TV Globo, and soon, their cameras will be in Asia" [1]

Replay Technologies, from Israel, has 100 employees [2], raised $9 million excluding debt financing [3] and established contracts with teams in multiple leagues. Impressive. Specs of system architecture and good samples. [4]

Part of the ethos back then too: "Apple Computer Inc. will explain how to use any of the equipment you have or give demonstrations before you buy one"

I like its ability to list stock symbols based on themes. As a long term investor who invests in specific industries, I have established fundamental and technical criterion I use to evaluate stocks and identify buy/sell times. But, I'm always on the look out for new stocks. Your "Theme" search is a useful feature in this regard.

Re:Delphi's self-driving car on Wednesday March 25, 2015 @06:24PM (#9266429)
Completely agree about the prejudice against the well established. I am not affiliated with the Delphi project, but work in this space. Not having knowledge of the effectiveness of the Delphi autonomous system, can't speak to that. But, with regards to their mechanical design, this team has demonstrated autonomous capability with a familiar and covert form factor: obscured GPS antennas, LIDAR and cameras. And computing. Not visible in either the rear seat or trunk [1, 2].

Also important to mention that this product is a partnership between Delphi and Ottomatika [3]. Ottomatika is the company that won the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge from CMU and provides the SLAM and software expertise.

Admittedly, the Google's of the world help with the lobbying and regulatory efforts which eventually expedite the technology transfer to the market for the Delphi's and smaller startups in this space [4].

Hey OP, how would you describe the startup culture in Brazil? I've been thinking of spending some time in São Paulo/Brazil working on personal projects. But, have no idea where to go and if there are other sw and/or hw developers hacking away.
Re:Show HN: Timeline.com on Thursday January 15, 2015 @01:00PM (#8894141)
I like the thought that has gone into expressing the app's motivations. As a curated app, I was interested in learning about the people behind it. Your About, FAQ/Editorial and Licenses section under timeline.com/about was fun to read. Too bad it was hidden away on the homepage. But, maybe you did this intentionally.

I'm in the process of working on a timeline-like design, non news related, so this piqued my interest.
