I am tired of people of coming up with these nonsense comparison. Bitcoin co2 emissions is the same as Hamburg. It uses more electricity than Las vegas etc. Have they accounted for the amount co2 the food that 1.8 million people in hamburg consume.

internet company are global by default now, however VC are not . Social capital is going global from day one. One of the first startup that applied to social capital was a Mexican startup. It was much easier for a Mexican company to get in touch social capital than a local mexican vc. Makes perfect sense. Social capital will go where no VC will go . Mongolia may be next

ICO are the best thing that ever happened. This is no different then kickstarter.com started. People where saying the same things. People put up lot of BS project and they got funded, in time these kind of project will fail on there own. This is just the start, no government or bank would have supported such system. For once, the small guy can participate in this market. I would have loved to invest in amazon, facebook, etc when they where private. You had to have the connection and access .. here the little guy in columbia or Africa has the same access to such a deal

It is not only about being impossible being tampered with. It is about trusting the system. Since we trust the blockchain with 100 + billion dollars. trusting it for a time sheet system should not be that hard

@mgonatav . we are building an internal ERP for our manufacturing business. We use our sales data to try and predict what our future sales will look like. We try and produce what we think we are going to be selling in the next few months. Right, if we sale 3 items a day we just do a straight math and assume we will sale 3x10 in 10 days . I would like to talk to you and see how your service can help us

I am a big believer is what he is doing. I worked both in financial firm and now have my own small factory. There is so much wast in financial firms. in the early 1990s, people with MBA where getting 100k a year for just doing spreadsheets. On top of that, it is not a full days worth of work. the work was not rewarding and it was high stress. The paycheck was great, for sure. I am trying to do that same thing now with my small manufacturing shop. Ordering of raw materials, Manufacturing allocation, labor etc are all controlled by a software. These are all boring jobs that an AI will do a much better job at.
Re:Ask HN: How much do you earn on average through software freelancing?

I come from the other side. I hire programers for my side projects and i have seen it all. As an entrepreneur the only thing i care about is that i have a working software. Some programers think they should be paid a lot of money but have very poor skills. If you are good at what you do, people will recognize that and you will be paid a higher wage. Just be good at your job and everything will workout.

3 d printers etc will be a big industry but that is not what i am referring to. I am thinking more about candle makers, Leather garment makers, perfume makers, bitter makers etc. Small scale manufactures can now sell directly to customers via the internet which has leveled the playing filed against big brands but there is a lot of complexity in the back end that needs to be automated

What are your biggest challenges.
Are you doing everything by your self ? or do you have a few employees. How many controllers do you build a day or week
Re:Ask HN: Anyone doing Small scale manufacturing
on Thursday November 03, 2016 @09:52PM (#12869766)
Yes sorry i should better explain. What i am interested about is small manufactures that have employees. Right now we employ 3 to 4 people full time.
Doing production is challenging, not because it is hard work but because there is a lot of moving parts. You have to keep track of a many components. That complexity only grows as you add more product. 1 product = 5 components 10 product = 50 components . Then if you included, marketing, customer service , it is a lot to handle.
I think making something locally and selling it directly to customers online is the wave of the future for the developed world. Running such an organization is really challenging. But i think it can all be automated, not by using robots but with software. A software should tell you what to make, when to make it, how much to make of it, and also manage your raw material. This is what we are working on and would love to talk to others that are faced with the same issue.
Ask HN: Anyone doing Small scale manufacturing
Hi Hacker News, anyone here that is doing small scale manufacturing. I think this is the future of manufacturing in USA. It is the one area where the small guy still has a good chance of succeeding and competing against large manufactures . I know there is a lot of people making and selling on ETSY, but most of the sellers there are low volume. I would love to start a conversation with people...

This is our story, We have been selling on Amazon since 2011 and about 5 months ago, some hijacker took over our listing and started selling smilar item but of lower quality. It took us 3 months for amazon to take action and got the seller kicked out of amazon. Basically he used of of those review services to upload over 1000 reviews with images to make it seem like they are the owner of the listing. We have been trying to clean up all this mess and we are getting no help from amazon.com . Here is a sample review of counterfeit product. https://www.amazon.com/review/R2X5VE3JT02KCU/ if you look at the listing, our product is totally diffrent.
