Ask HN: Role of an SRE in a Reliable Service

What's the role of an SRE on a team that owns a fairly reliable service that has identified scaling concerns, alerting/monitoring is well setup, and is managed by a well run team?Obviously, there could still be some unknown issues, or misses, but perhaps not enough work for a full-time SRE in that team?Does it make sense for SREs to be switching their focus to writing business logic for new...

I'm not sure why are your pings that high. I just asked my friend in an Asian country about his pings, and he averages out at 5ms to Google. Meanwhile, my average is 1ms in the US.

Pretty sure both of us have a Google datacenter nearby, but could the result of your ping be due to a bad configuration on your router?

Faster access is sold by gigabytes, which gets reset every 24h (You can still continue browsing after hitting the quota with lower speed). Meanwhile in the US, it's the same but your quota gets reset every billing period. Not sure which is the better model, but it's practically the same
Just got a subscription! Hope I receive the beans before I run out of my existing stock, or I'd have to make do with umm chai.

The 3 months free trial is great, but would you be adding a per-month option? I don't like to lock myself into one service for a year.

Try to find an Indian grocery store nearby. Maggi sells atta noodles which is whole wheat. You can also buy them off of Amazon
Prime is cheap because Amazon is still trying to acquire their market in India and can afford to lose money for a while. Contrary to what OP said, cable TV with HD, and most of the channels that a family would need is definitely more expensive than Netflix.
If by pre-pay you mean pay the full retail price, then you can do so without any SSN.
A system like the one you mentioned not only encourages surveillance but also paves way for more corruption at the top level (assuming the government goes ahead with rating businesses as well). I sincerely hope this system is abolished before other countries begin implementing it as well.
Only to reflect back on this at a later day and head to the river.
