Show HN: Promote your tool for Black Friday 2025

https://blackfridayappdeals.com/

Hey HN!I noticed there wasn't a good central place for Black Friday software deals this year, so I built one: blackfridayappdeals.com*It's completely free to submit your deal* - no paid tiers, no featured spots, just a simple form where you can add your Black Friday/Cyber Monday offer. The site organizes deals by category (Productivity, Developer Tools, Design, AI Tools, etc.) and includes...

Show HN: I made a Chrome extension to help you analyze TikTok profiles

https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/tiktok-super-tool-profile/mjfilihahpjjeapapjifhpgmdfphhekk

Hello everyoneToday I'm launching a chrome extension that is designed to help you do research on other Tiktok profiles. The inspiration came after doing many hours of research on other Tiktok profiles myself. * What are their most popular videos? * What hashtags are they using? * What audio are they using? So I built something to help me answer all these questions and give me a peak into other's...

Re:GitHub cuts AI deals with Google, Anthropic on Wednesday October 30, 2024 @03:45AM (#41992675)
Doesn't that mean it's just inevitable what will happen.

The question is not longer IF machines are capable, the question is WHEN. And the when is no longer decades away.

Re:Show HN: Turn Your Videos into Screenshots on Tuesday October 08, 2024 @03:02AM (#41774491)
If you want to take more than 3 screenshots then this would be faster. Usually you would have to stop the video and select the screenshot area. Plus I'd like them to look a bit nicer than a normal screenshot.

The purpose I made this was to create additional content from videos (blogs, social media posts). So, I plan to add some additional stuff like export to .webp to optimize size or different aspect ratios.

https://video2screenshot.com/

Hey HN, I wanted to get some screenshots out of my video but it was such a hassle, so I created an app for it.It's a web app that runs in the browser. You can mark the timestamps, set a gradient background to look nicer and then export. It's free and everything happens locally, so it's privacy friendly.Give it a go an let me know what you think!

Re:18 Months with a Framework 13 on Monday September 16, 2024 @06:23AM (#41554588)
As a kid I installed Ubuntu in the first laptop I ever owned. One day, I put it in my backpack. It probably woke up from sleep and got fried because it was unusable after that.

Still holding a grudge on Linux for that one.

Re:Ask HN: What are you working on (August 2024)? on Sunday August 25, 2024 @04:11AM (#41345460)
I built a chrome plugin to scrape data.

It's pretty good for List and Lead extraction. https://pandaextract.com/

They'll inject whatever ideology / dogma is "the current thing" into this.

Maybe 10 years ago.

I'd argue the opposite, college/uni has negative impact in your life.

They used to offer their apps offline and you could "host" it anywhere. Venture Capital ruined them.

Can't tell if this is a bot comment or I just don't understand a word

I have never seen a fork last long enough.

Seems that Boeing is plagued with incompetence.

Probably because it's considered too big to fail. It's pretty much backed by the US gov.

We don't need regulation for everything. Let customers vote with their wallet or even start a few lawsuits.

Adding more regulation makes the system slower.

OpenAI currently leads the front on (commercial) AI, so I doubt people will switch. In fact most offerings become outdated pretty fast and everyone else tries to play catch up.

Imagine using a GPT-2 type model when everyone else is using GPT-4. Until the dust settles there's no point in investing in alt models imo, unless you're leading the research.

> They have the money to hire anyone they want.

Just throwing money at the problem doesn't actually work.

Re:Pulsar, the best code editor since Atom on Monday February 19, 2024 @10:38PM (#39437790)
VSCode is a good successor imo. I liked Atom for it's simplicity and not getting in your way - which i think vscode does well.
Re:What's the fun in writing on the internet anymore? on Saturday February 17, 2024 @11:22PM (#39416175)
Trust and personal brand will have a bigger role to play in the future. That goes for businesses as well.

We humans are not really good at processing a lot of information - and that's what this is about. An overflow of information, choices and products. Everyone is trying to sell something.

So building a brand that people can trust and follow makes things easier. Apple is a great example of that.

Love the minimalism of this and the other software listed on your site. More apps should just do one thing and do it well.

I like watching movies/series from 2000-2010s. Trying to access that content through streaming is like a whack-a-mole game. Some content is available to some streaming services, in some countries, for a small amount of time. Give me a break.

Piracy all the way.
