Seems like this must still be in progress, their home page redirects to the new .ai domain but there are still a lot of pages that load on their existing .com domain.
I imagine it won't be long before we'll see the next gen from Starlink:
Starlink Standard (fixed)
Starlink Mini (portable)
Starlink Pocket (ultra-portable)
Starlink have over 11,000 satellites in orbit.
Globalstar have 24 satellites in orbit (at least according to Google).
How does this acquisition by Amazon meaningfully expand Leo to compete against Starlink?

Who processes the booking & payment, an aggregator like Expedia or the airlines direct?
Good call!
It looks like HR8799 that the animation is based on is about 1.5x the radius of the sun.
That being said, my silly point still holds - there are stars that are truly massive. Stephenson 2-18 is approximately the size I mentioned, which is genuinely impossible to comprehend.
Space and the enormity of it breaks your mind when you start thinking about it.
The star in the middle of the animation, is approximately 20AU (Astronomical Units) in size looking at the scale line. 20AU is approximately 1.8b miles/3b kilometres or approximately the distance from the Sun to Uranus.
If Google's correct, if everyone on Earth lived on that star - each and every one of us could have a backyard larger than the surface area of Earth ;p
It'd be incredible to have an SR-71 flying again, just simply __because__!
Then the government should sue that company as well.
My point isn't that they are targeting OpenAI, they should pursue Anthropic, Alibaba, DeepSeek, or any other company that has poor infrastructure and allows their systems to hack anything. It is a crime, it should be treated accordingly and not brushed over or diminished because it is AI.
The Australian Government needs to sue OpenAI to make a point.
At this point, it feels like it is out of control and it is just a matter of time before something much more significant happens. Imagine they hack into FAA to disrupt air travel, utility companies for water/gas, a nuclear power station (ala Stuxnet), financial/banking systems, stock exchanges, etc?
How companies pay such low bounties for such a find is mind blowing to me.
The Berm Peak YouTube channel did a similar reverse engineering of a retro Tron style e-bike. It didn't require going to new firmware but it is a good video as well about how he could accomplish it,

It's a thing for sure, maybe just not screamed about. If you run in a shoe that is 10mm+ and then go to a 0mm like an Altra - it is wild how different it feels.
The comments in the article about 'performance' are very real. When Nike was still in retail stores, 9/10 shoes were fashion sneakers and had nothing to do with athletics/running/performance.
By comparison, Hoka is positioned as a runners shoe. They have a variety of models based on the type of running you need (daily, long run, race), provide road/trail variants (their Speedgoat is amazing trail shoe), have large toe boxes to give your forefoot/toes the space needed to spread out on impact, also room to grow from swelling.
I'm sure Nike don't want to walk back from their fashionista offerings, but there are lessons in here for sure - maybe they need sub-branding like Nike Road, Nike Trail, Nike Casual or Nike Performance and Nike Casual.
Captain Steeeve’s latest video on this tragedy is shocking, complete disregard for the aviation rules. I think he cited 11 separate instances of __mandatory__ go around, the first of which was before they were anywhere near the runway at 1000ft elevation.
The sitemap being hosted at /images/sitemaps/index.xml is a problem. Technically, that sitemap can only include URLs beginning with /images/sitemaps/. They should move that file to the root, like /sitemap_index.xml and reference /sitemap-1.xml, /sitemap-2.xml etc.
This is wicked.
Reminds me of All Trails for hiking, Trailforks for MTB or Strava/Garmin activity map.
For reference, Semrush shows some statistics on these domains & how much traffic they are estimated to be receiving from organic search:
- wifitalents.com, peaked 15 July with 18k visits & declining
- worldmetrics.org, peaked 27 Jul with 8k visits & declining
- gitnux.org, peaked 20 Aug with 8k visits & declining
I'm not suggesting 'login' because facebook/twitter/etc, just as a mechanism to make the bot problem go away. They clearly want it to stop, they tried obvious methods but the AI platforms are circumventing it (deliberately) which is poor form.
In the case of kernel.org, why not make the unauthenticated version return only the latest kernel repo with no history (tiny number of URLs relatively speaking). If you want full kernel.org features, login.
Is there a true cost to the banks to move money around the world or is it nominal and just another opportunity for them to gouge consumers?
I like that this could be self hosted. I don't have anything against the big password managers (I use and pay for one), but they are a massive target for hackers for obvious reasons. If everyone could self host their own vault on a personal domain, the reward for hackers is much more difficult to get access to.
I literally chuckled out loud when I saw the headline :D
Tom Stanton has a raft of cool videos, I like the engineering iterations he often goes through to find a working prototype.
Similarly, this is also why Google stopped enforcing trademarks years ago. It allows more people to bid on terms, increases competition, increases CPCs & of course pads their bottom line.
BMI isn’t a good metric, this has been known for a long time.
For example, I’m 45yo/178cm/93kg and am obese by BMI measurement. However, my body fat is 20% (Dexa), VO2 of 50 (lab) & have the aerobic fitness to run a half marathon after work and not care.
I’m not surprised that you need other metrics like hip/waist ratio, measured body fat, visceral fat, etc to better understand the composition of someone’s body and how it might relate to health outcomes like heart disease.
Sadly, zero interest on my part.
If I need information, it is already within easy reach:
