You can make "loops": link at least four squares of the same color in a loop and it will remove all the squares of that color on the board. This seems to be a quite unique feature that you find in both Dots and Zop.

Ubuntu does mostly the same, except there's a "download without donation" link at the bottom : http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/contribute/?version=1...

Because not everyone is using it, or because it doesn't work.

For the technical side, instead of the historical one: http://responsiveimages.org/

An example from the homepage:

A typical mushroom taker can only trip once a week or once every two weeks (as tolerance builds up very quickly). That means one or two weeks of "reality" between (mega-dose) trips.

Re:Psychedelics in problem-solving experiment on Saturday August 30, 2014 @04:46PM (#8247552)
Some people have experimented with micro-dosing (~0.1 to 0.2g dry of) psilocybin mushrooms at shroomery.org, especially: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17315584... . He seems to have observed an increase in focus and productivity at work (editor of some kind). Unfortunately he stopped posting abruptly.
Re:Game about squares on Sunday July 27, 2014 @06:40PM (#8094230)
Thanks for the tip! But after trying for a while (remembering the positions of these 2 squares), I lost patience and closed the tab. But it lost my progress, even though the game told me that it was saving my progress at each level.

That's really too bad, because the game is very fun.

Re:Game about squares on Sunday July 27, 2014 @06:05PM (#8094133)
Really liked the game, but I'm colorblind and it blocked me on level 20: I can't tell which square should go on which circle ( http://imgur.com/CX7XWJ4 ). I genuinely played that level as if the two bottom squares were the same. Maybe you could add another differentiator, like a different shape.
Re:Netflix to expand to Germany, France and Switzerland on Wednesday May 21, 2014 @01:45PM (#7779610)
Where do you get this impression? I've lived in France my whole life and most people I know try to avoid subtitles as much as possible. Most of the foreign TV contents are dubbed anyway, except on a few channels (Arte).

This may be less true for the new generation accustomed to watching subtitled TV shows on the internet, instead of waiting for a few years to get them in French on TV.

Re:Poll: Do you use marijuana on Tuesday May 20, 2014 @05:30PM (#7775362)
Why would you want to be a bigger fan then ? Are there upsides too ?
Maybe that's the regular path of any technology. At first most of the community is small and technical so you don't need (and don't have the means anyway) to idiotproof. Then it grows and eventually there are more casual users than technical ones. Since the technology is more stable you have more ressources that you can dedicate to figuring out how your casual users use the technology. And since they have no interest in understanding how it works, you idiotproof.

The beauty of it is that it regulates the number of potential technical users. At first, your technology needs a lot of technical users, and since it's not idiotproofed yet, and users are exposed to low level details, you attract a lot of them. But then, low level details are progressively hidden, and only the users that have a strong interest will become technical. Essentially filtering out the users that don't have a strong enough interest to dive deeper than what they're exposed to.

Maybe the internet doesn't need as much technical users as before. So yes, there will be less kids getting interested in its technical side, but that's okay because it doesn't need them.

Re:Amazon, in Threat to UPS, Tries Its Own Deliveries on Thursday April 24, 2014 @03:46PM (#7642509)
In France at least there are a lot of places like this. For example I shop at Leclerc Drive where you order and pay online. It's ready 2 hours later and you have 24 hours to get it at a physical location. Once you get there, you scan a customer card or your nfc smartphone and somebody comes to your car with your products in bags (frozen, refrigerated and room temp being in different bags) in like 2 ou 3 minutes. If you want to, you don't even have to get out of your car as the guy will load it up your trunk, but most people just help out.

I live in a moderately big city and there are 4 Leclerc Drives (www.leclercdrive.fr), and then there's Chronodrive (www.chronodrive.com) and U (www.coursesu.com).

It'd be interesting to at least hear from the ones that totally freaked out and made it anyway.

Thanks but those are not the complete dataset. It seems like we should be able to get it at http://stats.oecd.org/index.aspx?queryid=24879, but I keep getting an error.

Can someone points to the actual dataset? The OECD website seems very busy at the moment.
Re:Why I Stick with the Linux Desktop on Wednesday October 30, 2013 @02:01PM (#6641974)
It looks good. But to me, until Microsoft does something about it, it's not really gonna take off. I thought Microsoft Installer would be it, but obviously it's not :/
Re:Why I Stick with the Linux Desktop on Tuesday October 29, 2013 @06:02PM (#6637813)
It does not get any better than pacman for sure, but I'm pretty happy with apt-get update && apt-get upgrade :)
Re:Why I Stick with the Linux Desktop on Tuesday October 29, 2013 @05:51PM (#6637753)
Not the OP, but my Canon MP550 printer is not recognized out of the box in Ubuntu. Never had any other issue.
Re:Why I Stick with the Linux Desktop on Tuesday October 29, 2013 @05:49PM (#6637747)
What I enjoy the most on my Linux desktop is how it handles installing/upgrading software. It's just easy, and it works. When I'm on Windows I can't stand the google-download-execute-untick boxes-next-next cycles. This post is more about UI features though.
Re:In defense of Excel on Friday September 20, 2013 @11:49AM (#6418448)
Any industry runs on Excel I guess.

I work in aeronautics and everyone who works on a computer maintains some Excel spreadsheets. It's everywhere but so few people know how to use formula, pivot tables, etc, that it has become a real competitive advantage to master them.
