Ask HN: Help with exponentially growing ClickHouse setup

Hey everyone,Long story short, we are a data analytics company from S23 batch storing currently >20 billion rows of data and it is exponentially growing. There are a lot of custom properties we have to store in JSONs (over 100 KBs per row) and many mutable datapoints (we do daily syncs with other platforms). If you've ever worked with ClickHouse then you'll know we are pushing it to its...

HockeyStack | San Francisco | ONSITE | Full-time | $160-200k + equity, employee #12

---

HockeyStack is the core data platform for B2B revenue teams to get insights from their customer data instantly.

We grew from 0 to 7-figures last year, went through YC, and raised from some of the biggest VCs, such as General Catalyst and NEA. But we need more engineers to keep up with all the feature requests and expand the product into new avenues.

Our first engineer was the founding CTO at Chili Piper (took the company to series B). We are keeping the talent bar very high to build the smartest engineering team we can.

This is a full-on IC role where you'll work with the founders directly in-person in SF, push new features every week and build one of the best B2B products out there.

This is also a contributor. But from what I've seen, the wave of corporate memphis is slowing down compared to the new dark mode trend and whatnot.

I would disagree. The designs I'm talking about are actually extremely polished. They spend an hour just to make sure the animation of a single component flows a certain way. And yet, they spend all this time and money only to make something that someone else already championed.

Re:We 5x'ed Our SQL Query Performance with ClickHouse on Tuesday January 10, 2023 @06:18PM (#34332878)
That's exactly right! As I explained in the post, we made a big tradeoff to get things started at the beginning, which was using mongo to handle large analytics workloads. It's been a year since I wrote this post but we've had a lot of success improving query performance within ClickHouse as well. Will write about that soon :)

you can do that! sent you an email :)
Re:Google Analytics 4 on Thursday March 17, 2022 @11:28AM (#30712185)
the value prop here is not "being cookieless and hosting in the EU"

it's unifying the whole customer journey with no code "while" being cookieless and hosting in the EU

I respect your opinion, but please also check out how much tools like Amplitude or Heap cost

Re:Google Analytics 4 on Thursday March 17, 2022 @06:14AM (#30709450)
totally get that! but it's still 10x cheaper than our competitors :)

check out https://hockeystack.com: it's an end-to-end analytics platform for B2B SaaS. completely no-code, doesn't require setup, cookieless, and we store our data in EU

it allows you to understand what drives revenue and measure the exact MRR you get from a blog post, churned users you get from an ad campaign, etc.

here is an example dashboard: https://hockeystack.com/live-demo/dashboard-preview/Content%...

Recently we launched a free survey tool, which was built in just 48 hours. This is a retrospective on why we built it, how it went, and more :)
Re:Show HN: Simple and Insightful Alternative to Hotjar on Sunday March 07, 2021 @01:24PM (#26378245)
Heatmaps can be a great way to visualize mouse hovering but other than that it doesn't offer a great deal into the actual experience of the visitors on your site. Even a scrolling action is reflected on the heatmap. Our user journey feature can show you what they clicked, scrolled, searched etc. and using our powerful filtering options, you can clearly see how they interacted with your site. Not as dots, but as real people and their journeys :)

Hi HN! I’m Arda from HockeyStack.

HockeyStack makes web analytics easy to use and understand, while still allowing for powerful analysis.

- It is completely no-code. All actions are automatically tracked without the need for “.track()” functions - With the user journey map and filtering options, you can analyze more sessions in a shorter time than when using session replays - You can segment users who did certain actions in order to optimize the conversion rate of that action - The dashboard is organized into clear-cut categories, so you can easily navigate through the data, as opposed to the cryptic organization in some other tools like Google Analytics.

I hope this will be useful for some of the less technical or busier people here.

You can start a no-credit-card free trial and later use the HACKERNEWS25 code for a 25% discount if you decide that HockeyStack is the right analytics tool for you.
