Re:Get Ready for Touch on Mac on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @08:55PM (#50283069)
This is really what it's about. At this point it's awkward for the people who are used to every screen they have reacting to touch for MacBooks to be the only ones that don't, so Apple felt like they had to add it.
The Pro and Ultra variants are the ones with the higher RAM amounts. They didn’t announce the M6 Pro yet.

> Your description grants psychological characteristics like intelligence, will, and intent to the AI.

The phrase “take over” doesn’t necessarily imply those things. Both of your descriptions is of a thing that took over a company.

Re:Opus 5.0 drives incoherence into the stratosphere on Wednesday August 19, 2026 @03:06PM (#49365847)
Amazing what people will put up with to avoid doing the work themselves.
Re:Opus 5.0 drives incoherence into the stratosphere on Wednesday August 19, 2026 @03:04PM (#49365819)
Why do you think AI taking over the firm isn't AI taking over the firm? You're literally describing the thing that you're saying isn't happening.

What makes you say this?

Re:Cloudflare Drop on Wednesday July 08, 2026 @08:01PM (#48839111)
When you see a group of people being critical, you can either see it as a “bummer”, or you can see it as people critically thinking about a thing.

Is it really more useful to have everyone expressing how much they like something instead of identifying problems?

Is seeing people talking about the things they don’t like something that makes you unhappy? Why?

Re:Zuckerberg 'Admits' Meta's Layoffs Were Ineffective on Friday July 03, 2026 @10:23AM (#48775438)
I’m not the person you’re responding to, but I’ll answer. It’s not worth the (token) cost. It’s too inefficient. It’s brute-forcing solutions to problems by spending more and more tokens.
Re:Claude Sonnet 5 on Tuesday June 30, 2026 @04:22PM (#48738661)
And the trade off for that productivity is relying on a completely untrustworthy company/product that gets more expensive and uncertain by the week while your skills erode.
Re:Claude Sonnet 5 on Tuesday June 30, 2026 @03:32PM (#48738087)
When the motorcycle manufacturers keep making each new model worse and more expensive and the government keeps trying to ban them.
Re:Claude Sonnet 5 on Tuesday June 30, 2026 @02:59PM (#48737619)
Have you considered getting better at coding so you can build stuff yourself instead of waiting for models you might not be able to get access to anymore?
Re:Google limits Meta's use of its Gemini AI models on Sunday June 28, 2026 @12:27PM (#48708845)
Using LLMs for development is not efficient. All of the problems these companies are having trying to provide enough compute and energy are proof.

Understanding the actual problems we are trying to solve with code and efficiently coming up with solutions (essentially, pre-LLM development) will always be better than wastefully brute forcing solutions with LLMs.

How did you come to that conclusion? That goes against everything I've heard from people who understand development. Every resource I can find about AI vs non-AI development comes to the exact opposite conclusion you did.

Funny that you came to this conclusion and then posted the comment anyway.

> ICE is just enforcing law.

"This changed in June 2025, just weeks after White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, reportedly frustrated with the slow increase in ICE arrests, called the head of every ICE Field Office into a room in Washington, DC and ordered them to “just go out there and arrest illegal aliens.” Following this meeting, the Trump administration launched its first splashy raid of an American city, sending hundreds of agents into Los Angeles and sparking fiery confrontations between protestors and federal agents." [0]

That's what you're talking about when you say "just enforcing the law"?

> Also they're enforcing the law regardless of the skim color.

"Publicly available ICE and research datasets show clear shifts in who is being arrested and detained—large growth in interior arrests and detention of people without U.S. criminal convictions and major variation across states—but they do not provide a consistent, complete public breakdown of ICE arrests and detention by race and nationality at the county level, so any precise county-level racial or national origin tallies are not available from the cited public sources." [1]

So how do you know that? Are you just guessing? You're accusing me of the exact thing you're doing. Honestly it sounds to me like you're the one suffering from some serious brainrot.

> You either have lost touch with reality so far to be unable to understand what "oppressed" means or you're just parotting someone else who suffers from that affliction.

This 100% applies to you. If you can’t see ICE actions as oppressive, you’ve definitely lost touch with reality.

That is definitely not what everybody else does. Some people try harder to find the things that they enjoy doing that provide value to others.
Re:Siri AI on Monday June 08, 2026 @03:12PM (#48450107)
I think it’s just storing embeddings now.
Re:Apple WWDC 2026 Livestream on Monday June 08, 2026 @03:11PM (#48450076)
Their entire angle here is that Siri AI itself is private/secure. Siloing data from the thing that they’re advertising as private and secure wouldn’t make sense.
Re:Apple WWDC 2026 Livestream on Monday June 08, 2026 @03:07PM (#48450012)
You think criticism is a sign of being in a bubble?

Nothing new about that play. They have been heading in this direction for a very long time now.
Re:Google changes its search box on Tuesday May 19, 2026 @05:27PM (#48199917)
And do you think that’s how everyone should feel? If not, how is it relevant to people not liking what Google is doing?
You’re forgetting the energy part of the equation.
The point of open weight models is not having to rely on specific providers for them.
It sounds like you’re both agreeing that windows should be controlled by either the user OR the OS, not both.
Re:Tim Cook's Impeccable Timing on Tuesday April 21, 2026 @10:45AM (#47849547)
You're asking why they wouldn't pivot to making a regular EV, but I think the Apple way is to ask why they SHOULD make a regular EV.

They could do a lot of things that would make money. The hard part is figure out which ones to say no to.

Re:Claude Opus 4.7 on Friday April 17, 2026 @07:39AM (#47804813)
I believe AWS forwards requests (for Clause models) to Anthropic’s servers. They don’t host those models.
Re:Cloudflare outage on February 20, 2026 on Saturday February 21, 2026 @03:58PM (#47104676)
Do you not feel concern about you and everybody else deciding to put ALL of their eggs into one basket like this?
Re:Facebook is cooked on Friday February 20, 2026 @07:57PM (#47096261)
Sometimes you have to stand for something even if it’s inconvenient.
Re:Gemini 3.1 Pro on Thursday February 19, 2026 @01:49PM (#47077492)
Or maybe you’re too trusting of companies who have already proven to not be trustworthy?
