I have phases too, right now going through a strong wave. I’m desperately resisting the urge to buy a really nice hyuga kaya table board. I decided to gift it to myself if I ever reach one dan, hopefully that would incentivize staying motivated.
Tennis has got to be closer to a kind enviornment, a well defined set of strokes, immediate outcomes, a ranking system, and full information.

Didn't know it existed, perhaps I would've used it. I like hckrnews.com interface, but wanted some help to reduce my screen time.
Re:Income Inequality (2016) on Monday March 05, 2018 @02:01PM (#16523412)
This seems to focus on pre and post tax inequality of outcomes at a specific moment in time.

The more interesting data would measure how fluid are the populations of income deciles between generations or even within a single lifespan.

Re:A preview of the U.S. without pensions on Sunday December 24, 2017 @01:29AM (#15998311)
And the best part is that the next generation will have it even worse. They’ll have 75% Social security payments, little chance of building net worth through home purchases and a lifetime of $10/hr jobs.

When I saw his workstation specs, I thought, thats the exact same one I have at work! Then I checked the bottom, yep, he's at Google too.
This is the more accurate headline, only government facilities are renewable not the entire city itself.
*unethical by the way. I figure the idea is to learn something as opposed to learning nothing like we do today.

Re:2015 Gates Annual Letter on Thursday January 22, 2015 @04:13AM (#8928251)
I'm skeptical online education will have any significant impact at an elementary school level, especially when you consider the cost effectiveness of such a strategy. If were talking about video lectures (especially live) you need to figure out how to hook up reliable internet into these schools. Most of the internet access projects are just enough to get wikipedia loaded. And not to mention the cost of the hardware itself, a tablet per student isn't even feasible in western public schools.
Re:The Cruel Waste of America’s Tech Talent on Saturday January 17, 2015 @11:35AM (#8904668)
Maybe I'm confused, but how does a so called "illegal immigrant" child go through 18 years of education only to get thrown under the bus later. Either give them complete amnesty or check their passport when they enter grade school.
f we assume a modest 1:4 US to world ratio and a difference of 4.1% as explained by the firefox switch, then the entire US firefox userbase is about 1% of the world. Google won't be sweating.

Re:Bill Gates: My Plan to Fix The World's Biggest Problems on Saturday January 26, 2013 @10:49AM (#5120629)
Bill Gates treating the world like a computer optimization problem. First profile the world (program) and construct suitable benchmarks. Figure out some reasonable goals and test if your various health care and education programs affect the benchmark results.
