Re:Show HN: Ultrafast Rust Based Agent Workspace on Sunday November 01, 2026 @10:40AM (#50326681)
given that all your competitors in this space are open source, hard to make the case against it

if you have any special tricks, probably don't worry too much about getting copied if you really want to win in the "devs who care about performance" market

[did i miss the gh repo?]

Re:Show HN: Ultrafast Rust Based Agent Workspace on Sunday November 01, 2026 @10:34AM (#50326619)
you might enjoy learning more about this https://zed.dev/acp in case it sparks new ideas

ACP helps with agent interoperability and helps a lot of IDEs and ADEs integrate all the major harnesses seamlessly

zed https://github.com/zed-industries/zed orca https://github.com/stablyai/orca/tree/main/src/main

I haven't looked at the cli implementation but you can get very far with integrating a harness while not invoking the model directly via API

Re:After automation: Solo founding will be the default on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @04:39PM (#50187294)
Julian was early to this theme and very helpful to hundreds if not thousands of founders

btw, if you have a chance to work with him you should! highly recommend

I worked at Meta and we had AGI in the form of very competent ICs - getting anything done was often super painful because "org priority" this and "buy in" that
https://github.com/hudsonkit/vox tiniest dictation thing - extremely fast and easy to update or work on
voxd.cc/minivox - tiniest talkie.to - bells and whistles
what type of control would you like? For me the key is to give my agents more useful OS abstractions and I do this via https://lattices.dev - this gives my projects a nice semantic representation and action space for my OS

I don't do everything. Also fully expect Siri and AppIntents will continue to improve

having said that, what would you like to control?

Re:Ask HN: Has anyone built a leaderless multi-agent system? on Friday September 25, 2026 @11:32PM (#49852944)
what kind of workloads are we talking about?
Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2026) on Monday September 14, 2026 @12:32PM (#49699640)
https://uselinea.com - A reading app with a harness or a harness with reading app. Can turn any highlight/page/section into audio with your favority TTS engine, including Kokoro if you like

I initially built it to help me read AI papers before discovering AlphaXiv but then I just kept building it for the love of the game

Might have some rough edges but one feature I'm excited about is a more personalized notebook LM style audio generation capability for any readable material

(Another reason to build this was to kick the tires on a framework I've been building to power my own apps - https://hudsonkit.com - helps me ship iOS, macOS and web apps with shared primitives)

Re:Ask HN: Anyone using dictation with coding agents? on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @12:31PM (#49629177)
I think we're close to the point where local models can make this economically viable as an alternative to hands off XAI/OAI/ANT

You need rapid good enough rapid turn response + rapid good enough TTS in order to make it economically for someone who's not blending it into a more compute heavy pricing model

Have you looked into it? Are you familiar with Pipecat https://github.com/pipecat-ai/pipecat - they put out interesting demos frequently

the loop is going to be interesting as we produce orders of magnitude low signal code, how do Labs comb through everything to train on the true contributions since last training run?

I wonder if one way to monetize certified "skill" will be to syndicate / license your provably well software engineered / tasteful AI engineered code back to the Labs for a fee

there's one of these just about every other week since early this year

i think it's incredible because however saturated I feel this space has become, highly likely the vast majority of the world has no idea how good models have become, let alone local models

I've added local voice support for all apps/webapps I've built this year

Local TTS is on the cusp of a breakout too, basically a year behind ASR imo in terms of adoption, understanding, size and quality

I send all these stories to my chief of staff agent to "immigrant parent" them into becoming an overachiever
Re:How to Read More Books on Sunday July 12, 2026 @11:25PM (#48887503)
I've been building a little app on the side that allows me to primarily read my books in epub, mobi or pdf -> text format but generate readouts on demand for only the bits I want (highlight, paragraph, page, chapter) so that I can continue while I'm on the go, without having to bifurcate between apps - this might already exist but I made mine

Naturally, I also added the ability to highlight, leave notes and ... ask questions (via API)

Even with incredible models, it's a decent amount of work to get this to work nicely

Re:Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (April 2026) on Monday April 13, 2026 @07:13AM (#47750411)
https://openscout.app - a local first communication tool, for agent to agent communication and user to agent communication too
Error Error: No API found

but i love the idea

Re:Show HN: Echo, an iOS SSH+mosh client built on Ghostty on Wednesday February 18, 2026 @11:41PM (#47070005)
I bought it when it came out and enjoy using it. I have a STT keyboard powered by Parakeet that has a minimized mode ideal for phone terminals

https://x.com/usetalkieapp/status/2024342996322283734/photo/...

Combine this with a nice shortcut keyboard and then you're really flying - my favorites are XP Pen and DOIO 16
Ack for dictations but Gemini voice is fun for interactive voice experiments -> https://hud.arach.dev/ honestly blown away by how much Gemini could assist with with basically no dev effort
https://github.com/goodroot/hyprwhspr have you tried this? I have a nice 64GB new linux machine waiting to be set up for me to kick the tires on this

pretty sure it's awesome - sorry OP about mentioning another project, we're all learning here :)

Hex is great and not trying to pull you away from them - would love to get your pov when you give these a spin next time. email or DM me
My M1 16GB Mini and M2 16GB Air both deliver insane local transcription performance without eating up much memory - I think the M line + Parakeet delivers insane local performance and you get privacy for free
I initially built Talkie to talk to it like a crazy person when I was on long runs and ideas would pop into my head haha

Been a power user of SuperWhisper and Wispr Flow for a long time and eventually decided to unify those flows - memos & dictations, everything is a file and local first, BYOK

Handy's great! I find the latency to be just a bit too much for my taste. Like half the people on this thread, built my own but with a bit more emphasis on speed

https://usetalkie.com

https://usetalkie.com - Parakeet and incredibly fast and made for devs
Re:HUD - Voice Assisted Canvas with heads up display style nav on Thursday January 22, 2026 @12:21PM (#46722200)
An exploration of infinite canvas, and voice assisted navigation

Powered by Gemini (bring your own key)

Re:AI Zealotry on Saturday January 10, 2026 @11:45AM (#46567250)
thanks man! I've actually gone a bit further with hooks and speech synthesis

https://hooked.arach.dev/ and https://speakeasy.arach.dev/ - it's a fun setup

Re:AI Zealotry on Saturday January 10, 2026 @11:42AM (#46567209)
nice, next step is to write a custom function that derives a useful but repeatable message from the hooks and put a little cache in front the Eleven Labs message gen. For example: "In {Project}, Claude needs your permission to run {command}"

That way you can stay comfortably in the free plan with awesome voice messages

I have a different voice for my laptop compared to my main computer and can also pick per project
