I would recommend reading the 4-hour workweek book from tim ferris. http://www.amazon.com/The-4-Hour-Workweek-Escape-Anywhere/dp...

Great advice for time management, works well for IT positions.

I get your point, as I was writing it I thought "this shouldn't be too technical otherwise I end up writing a tutorial" but had to be technical enough to give some context and practical examples... But yeah, I should have gone deeper explaining the Shadow DOM part.

Web Components article feedback

Hey guys, i wrote an article about Web Components introducing the elements that are under this big umbrella. Can you please give me some feedback about it? Written english and content wise. Some people tell me it's too long, others it should have more images to illustrate the shadow DOM...http://blog.premium-minds.com/old-legos-made-new/

If you don't mind spending money, phpstorm is the way to go. It's faster than netbeans and has a big company behind with custom support.

Who is using Yii framework?

Who is using the php Yii framework? It's been my main focus in php terms since 2010, does anyone uses it? Or you prefer other php framework or some other server-side language?

Re:Ask HN - need some advice, I'm stuck on Tuesday July 02, 2013 @07:14PM (#5981351)
You can start some side projects in other language like Python or Ruby, do some coding, work on freelance gigs, and earn some experience. That way you will have something to use in a future interview.

Github hosting (git-pages)

I've finally built my personal webpage, with my work portfolio, what i do info, skills etc.. Its just html+css+js no server-side. My question is, for credibility, rep, professionalism matter, is it a bad idea do host it at github and leave the default url? (username.github.io)Use case: You as a employer would consider other person with a private domain over me for example?

They like that comand line look and feel.
1. Run 2 times a week and swim 1. 2. Going out with the wife, even if its just a simple walk. 3. Do side projects. 4. Cook, everyday, it's something that i like and relaxes me at the end of the day.

My 3cents friend.

Well beside reading de doc. and start by creating the "hello world" django app, you should take a look at these django packages: https://www.djangopackages.com/grids/g/mobile/

then save the android developers site and read the design patterns section: http://developer.android.com/design/patterns/index.html

and finally follow this tutorial to jump start your mobile app: http://mobiforge.com/developing/story/build-a-mobile-and-des...

Try Medium, it's the content and readability that matters.

And still i can't import my reader feeds to feedly, despite they are public or not... Better start adding them one by one.
First you need a mac to go native, and my 2cents follow that native path. Going native you have access to all functionalities, push notifications, accelerometer, gyroscope, and build nice apps using those tools. So for that you will need to lear Obj.C: http://www.codeschool.com/courses http://teamtreehouse.com/

Those are a good starting point.

First of all, thanks for the reply :)

You wrote "I don't really understand how people can team up with perfect strangers they can't vet;" and that is a very strong reason why i want to team up with him. Because since we are starting something from ground 0, building connections, working like maniacs etc, i think i would like to rely on someone that i know for years, that i can trust and expect to behave in certain situations like i would.

That said, i think that will be very important for us to make something like a vow stating that we both are open to choose "bailout" as long the other part knows it in advance. Always communicate our beliefs and disagreements. And more important always act in the best interess of the startup.

Does that cover it?
