> Watch with Phone Dialer function enabling audio-based dialing

> Introducing Phone Dialer functionality. This new feature worked in tandem with the Telememo function, which stored up to 50 telephone numbers. Simply holding the watch’s built-in speaker up to the receiver of a push-button telephone allowed users to place calls to stored numbers, which were output in the form of touch-tone signals. At a time before mobile phones really hit the scene, this was an extremely revolutionary feature. Eliminating the need to manually dial numbers digit by digit while checking a telephone directory, people used it in a broad range of settings, including business.

And I click close tab

At this point I think it's just AIs using hacker news to demonstrate to other AIs.

Does anyone know if it has capabilities that would be useful in running retro-games? I'm imagining a guest KMS-> host SDL conversion, or indeed something like virtio-gpu?

Last I looked (years) those were very much 'not intended use'.

I think the real answer is the Overton window shifted to accommodate what was previously scandalous,

I've built a few of these, happy to have a quick chat if you like. Details in profile.

Anyone still using Google for anything other than ads and YouTube post Reader has only themselves to blame.

Maybe GCP. It's like saying the tiger had no prior history of violence.

Re:True Rate of Unemployment on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @04:34PM (#49542128)
I think you're making my point though, all of those connections required "knowing a guy", and the odds that for all the problems you might need expertise for, you won't know enough guys.

And it sounds like they did the work 'under market' which implies they don't do very much of it.

For your experience to be generally available for all people and all skills, I think you need a market.

Re:True Rate of Unemployment on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @02:50AM (#49532632)
Sounds like you want a capital-P Professional, but one who is willing (and permitted) to do direct consulting.

That's pretty much lawyers and doctors, then nothing for about 80% of the distribution because those people are W2 and have neither the time nor the leeway to do solo consulting. Then you're into the ultra-specialist fields, at which point they have an agent.

So I would say, you don't want to find a person, you want to find an agent who has such a person, and odds are starting fees are $5k going on $1M.

I'm glad Claude is so recognisable, it lets me bounce right off the empty calorie language very efficiently.

Maybe this thing is great, but it cannot be determined with this presentation.

Re:AI psychosis is the new leadership blind spot on Friday August 07, 2026 @10:04AM (#49210625)
At this point I'd rather the LLM take charge, at least we wouldn't have to worry about its ego.
To be fair buying securities or derivatives ahead of a pharma results announcement is pretty common already.

Not to excuse these guys for all their other awfulness of course.

I knew which car it was instantly based on the headline - I go back and forth on whether to get one or to continue to abuse my 2000s Matrix manual which is like the GRC's puny brother.

I was able to close my first series A after just a few hours of using this. I wish the rate limits were higher though.
What exactly can an individual do? For many their accounts have limited fund choices and if you don't want to pay high ER for fund manager's pedicures then you end up on an index, which (S&P500 excluded) have now bent the knee. Mine are on russel indexes so I have no choice.

Short spacex is the only answer I've heard but I'm wise enough to know I don't have the mentality for derivatives.

for static clients that works well, though you can usually set a min rssi and get the same benefit without so much clicking.

There isn't a good route to send such repeat-low-level offenders, which is part of why they get caught-and-released.

There should be, it just seems a little short-sighted to blame the judge versus the entire correctional and judicial system that forces them to make a least-bad choice.
