Recently, Intel has been hiring top SWE's from Apple, Netflix and more. I wonder how they feel joining a sinking ship for $$$.

Any way to hack the $1bn lottery prize?
Perhaps its not that important

If one PL doesn’t do the job, another will.

If we don’t get fusion, we die. That’s what the Princeton IAS is for.

The US should mandate every gunshot be accompanied by a loud ultrasonic tone that can easily identify the occurrence to any recording device. The tone could eventually be modulated with the guns serial number.
Depressing that even a PL savant amongst us has to go and ply his trade around town instead of being financially independent.
Re:SQLite Internals: Pages and B-trees on Wednesday July 27, 2022 @03:09PM (#32255223)
How much of SQLite is D. Richard Hipp versus companies that are contributing to the code?
What do the logicians among us conclude? Occam's Razor? I am not smart enough to deduce the truth of all this nonsense.
Branding.

Re:Inside the Irish Republican Army (1994) on Monday July 25, 2022 @02:40AM (#32221222)
The IRA. Pure scumbags.

Gerry Adams condones the murder Lord Mountbatten, and very likely ordered it. Why isn't he in jail?

Here's what they sing:

“13 dead and not forgotten, we got 18 and Mountbatten.”

Re:“Burning Ship” fractal on Sunday July 24, 2022 @02:55AM (#32211053)
Incredibly creepy. What if one day we found a fractal that contains a message from God?
How did this pass ethics review?
Why is this a big deal.. a signal of the end of the world perhaps? Or nefarious forces at play?
Anyone else feel that Apple has completely screwed the pooch on the marketing here? I feel this is just going to end up in a mess of confusion of M1/M2/M3 with superfluous adjectives.
I remember getting this in an interview without ever coming across it.. basically, fuck union find.
How do you know it's too slow, what's the RPI's fabric clock?
Could I implement a RISC-V SoC comparable to a RPi4 with this?
Re:Framework Laptop (2022) review: the repairability dream on Thursday July 21, 2022 @07:52PM (#32186756)
Now you know why you pay more for premium (Apple) laptops. Hundreds, if not thousands of people working on reducing battery drain to a minimum.
Do we need plastic books?
Re:A Crack in the Linux Firewall on Thursday July 21, 2022 @06:05PM (#32185788)
