Re:My first community contact on reddit.com went completely nuts on Wednesday October 02, 2019 @05:05PM (#21140742)
Thanks for your comment. Ok I understand what you mean. My intention was to show, that I am not a newbee in community work but in reddit. I was obviously not able to transport the fact, that I felt offended by the behavior of the moderator.

Thanks for your comment. Fair enough. Maybe I should have said "gives me the freedom to be offline". To not be distracted is requiring a big amount of self discipline.

Thanks for your comment. I do not intent to name drop CouchDB for deserving to post anything. I take it as an example for a well working community.

May I ask: you find the answer from the moderator understandable?

Re:1966 children about the future [video] on Tuesday October 01, 2019 @03:42PM (#21129708)
It is really disturbing how huge the fear of a atomic war was back then. It shows how bad the cold war was in these years. Today, our children fear different things like the fact, that we are destroying our environment. Interestingly, it would be quite the same (but sure not really), if the bomb would be dropped.

Interesting is also that many kids predict the future in the year 2000 kind of correctly. For example the ideas about computers are quite correct.

I still prefer paper books over digital reading. As a CTO I have to finde some digital and online free time. That gives me the freedom to not be distracted and read.
Re:KDE is adopting GitLab on Monday September 30, 2019 @05:13PM (#21119704)
Mostly I would miss to organise 50+ developers on one platform. GitLab offers a very good authorization mechanics. Furthermore the CI pipeline is extremely helpful. There is no need to use anything else.

While preparing some slides I was looking for pictures of machines. I stumbled upon this really cool site. There are a lot of very high quality photos. If you are interested in photography give it a try.
Re:Simulation of what a massive black hole would look like on Monday September 30, 2019 @03:56PM (#21119123)
This reminds me of the black hole shown in Interstellar (movie). It's fantastic even though being in a shelf is kind of unbelievable ;-)
