How did you get so rich? Inheritance? Startup went IPO?

If you are using these models for software development, then I ask you this question…… when you are interviewing job candidates to join your team, do you ask them to write a program to draw pelicans?

Thus you have your answer.

I’m glad my many open source projects contributed to making AI so awesome.

Re:Why are good developers so wary of agentic development? on Thursday October 29, 2026 @01:01PM (#50292315)
>> I think most good developers take care in considering the npm dependencies they install

Evidence?!

No they don’t - developers just fly past installing whatever they need to make the damn thing work.

They don’t sit there thinking carefully about what each dependency means.

No it’s not about some superior knowledge of how things work in the real world.

Seems to me it’s mostly emotional reaction not logical, which is fine.

The important thing to understand is that emotional reaction won’t change when the tech improves - they’ll still hate AI.

What did they do for light?

Re:Challenge Is Gone on Sunday October 25, 2026 @10:07AM (#50231757)
I feel the opposite.

I feel like possibility has arrived.

I can build anything I want.

Even so it’s still very challenging to build anything worthwhile.

Why would someone do this?

It makes no sense why you’d do something so foolish.

Re:Meta Muse hits 10M users on Friday October 23, 2026 @07:26AM (#50207300)
A few months ago I had the idea of handing your life to an AI toy that tells you how to do everything.

It seemed like a ridiculous idea.

So I made a site ridiculing the idea of little AI toys that rule your life.

https://lifeos.nexus/

Until a few weeks ago I found meta had brought my idea to life including making their plush toy look precisely the same.

You suck at running your own life.

Hand it all to AI.

Be the best you can be - AI knows how to make you that better person - you do not.

Exactly why I created this:

Re:The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @05:52AM (#50178239)
Since Covid no one seems to care that much any more.

Even the Greens party in Australia is more interested in social issues than environment.

Re:Pillowfort Is Closing on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @02:33AM (#50176848)
What is pillow fort?
But think of the profits!

Everything comes with a cost.

I’m in it for the love of creating software and making computers do things not possible before.

It’s never been a more exciting time for software development.

Perhaps never been a less exciting time for handcrafting code.

Re:Namecheap just seized and disabled all my domains on Sunday October 18, 2026 @02:33PM (#50143946)
I’ve found really great but quite unique .com domain names available on name cheap then mysteriously gone registered to name cheap within hours, available for purchase at thousands.

Always strenuously denied by the name cheap CEO “we do not front run domain names!”.

I’d never do a domain name check there again.

Iain M Banks sci fi also has stories where AIs must be wiped out.
I’m curious to know - the author describes many pitfalls.

But - how much work is this for an experienced PCB designer?

How long would it take someone skilled to get such a thing designed?

It’s the lack of effort to make the AI write better that bothers me.
AI written

“ I want to be honest about what happened next, because it matters: I never planned to sell it. I made it for Billie.”
