Artoo actually can directly run on single-board Linux computers, such as the Beaglebone Black[1] or Raspberry Pi[2].
Running on such a device, it can in fact control other supported platforms connected to it, such as the Leap Motion or Sphero (with addon hardware as applicable).
For simpler stuff like the Arduino (or other micro-controllers), however, Artoo needs to run on a beefier host platform and connect to the device remotely.

Firefox Aurora has existed for the last few years. It's their preview release of stuff, equivalent to Chrome Canary.
Gary Bernhardt (guy doing that screencast) also does [Destroy All Software][1]. Lot of useful Ruby/Rails videos, done with vim. He's just as fast as this video, if not faster, and he doesn't slow down.

One problem I'm finding is that Ruby refuses to compile on this setup, giving the following prompt instead:
I'm assuming this is because of Apple's GCC build just being wrappers around LLVM.

I really want to use an editor like this with a bunch of awesome features, but since I've had vim's navigation/language imprinted on my brain, I can't use another editor without the experience being excruciating.
Luckily, a good portion of the useful functionality in Sublime Text 2 can be ported to vim, which makes me a happy camper.

To be fair, Dropbox has had a few issues with stability as well.
But I agree, Twitter hasn't exactly been rock-solid lately.
