Oh man you'd love Bluesky. No one else cares about 2018 tech twitter "ist" bullshit anymore. Get bent.
Re:My Thoughts on the Bun Rust Rewrite on Thursday July 09, 2026 @07:52AM (#48844409)
the loss of network effect.
Re:My Thoughts on the Bun Rust Rewrite on Thursday July 09, 2026 @07:51AM (#48844390)
Conversely we have actual evidence that Bun rewriting in Rust because Andrew wouldn't accept AI contributions, actually hurt Andrew's feelings.
Re:My Thoughts on the Bun Rust Rewrite on Thursday July 09, 2026 @07:46AM (#48844342)
The project needs an adult in the room - preferably someone less on the spectrum - who approves this content before it goes out. This reads as an incredibly butthurt, petulant rant, authored by someone deeply hurt that users are putting all the blocks into the square hole. Andrew would have been served better by a Linus-style curt takedown, rather than this drivel.
Re:Migrating the main Zig repository from GitHub to Codeberg on Thursday November 27, 2025 @12:13PM (#46071224)
This is hilarious. Hating Microsoft will never go out of style. Fun to see the youngs rediscover it. Also hilarious is that Codeberg as a frontend is slow as hell; slower than Github even.

Have fun with your newfound virtue, Zig folks!

Re:Migrating the main Zig repository from GitHub to Codeberg on Thursday November 27, 2025 @12:10PM (#46071188)
It's virtue signaling plain and simple. People who crafted their identities around the current thing in ~2017 are religiously attached to having to be part of the in group and can't let it go, and it inevitably bubbles up like this.

This will no doubt rankle those who align with that group, but they are a pathetic remnant of a terrible period of rampant sociopathy.

Re:Maybe Bluesky Has "Won" on Friday November 15, 2024 @07:17PM (#42152905)
This is exactly my take as well. The people leaving and putting out the call for others to follow them are the same ones that lost their power when the platform changed hands and the ideologies of the people who run it changed.

Came here thinking it was containers for Seriously Small Trucks myself

Would you trust a company whose founder dances in pajamas like Elaine Benes with an open laptop to deploy your infra? Sus, very sus.
Re:Former President Trump is projected to win the presidency on Friday November 08, 2024 @08:59AM (#42086884)
That's in of itself, sad. The lack of efficiency is mind-bottling [1]. There were states with large populations that had 90-100% of results in a matter of hours.

Was just in Canada recently and despite the favorable exchange rate, I couldn't believe how expensive groceries were compared to the states. Everything from juice to eggs to bread to meat was 1.5 - 2x the cost back home.
Re:Plunk: The open source email platform on Tuesday August 13, 2024 @09:13AM (#41235133)
where does it say it's an email server?
Re:Plunk: The open source email platform on Tuesday August 13, 2024 @09:13AM (#41235128)
being pedantic doesn't mean you were misled.
Re:Caniemail.com (like caniuse but for email content) on Monday May 06, 2024 @09:36PM (#40281358)
FWIW jsx-email has a builtin CLI email client compatibility check which uses the caniemail dataset: https://jsx.email/docs/core/cli#check

My eyes! The goggles do nothing! [1] Please bring on some design and UX folks. The contrast literally strains the eyes.

Re:Kroger's Digital Struggle on Monday February 12, 2024 @10:55PM (#39354170)
Possibly relevant, but they seem to have a hard time hiring and retaining talent. There's been a consistent player in my LinkedIn inbox from 2018 to present (even post-ZIRP) and that's Kroger engineering recruiters.

Re:Bluesky social network drops invite-only sign ups on Tuesday February 06, 2024 @10:45AM (#39275568)
seems you've angered the folks who went to Bluesky
Re:Bluesky social network drops invite-only sign ups on Tuesday February 06, 2024 @10:19AM (#39275125)
Completely uninterested in Bluesky as it was the favorite non-mastodon target for the most insufferable people that I'd run across on the old Twitter. I'm legitimately happy for them that there's a place they enjoy participating, but want nothing to do with it.
because this only matters if you somehow benefit from it; either with virtue points on the internet, or political points in the media.
quite the leap from a few too many drinks, directly to therapy and mental health issues. if that's your take from someone being drunk and saying something ridiculous then I'd question your judgement.

Do you happen to have a link handy? Can't find any information about this being a free service.
Re:The Most Compelling Reason to Use Firefox Is Sync That Works on Thursday December 28, 2023 @11:30AM (#38795165)
FWIW Brave's sync works extremely well.
Re:Google Makes over $92B per Year by Owning Android on Thursday December 21, 2023 @03:19PM (#38726281)
> Android makes it difficult to route pictures and videos anywhere other than Google photos

I've been an android user for well over 10 years and find this to be wholly inaccurate. I have pictures backing up automatically in three different places with no friction whatsoever.

Be it Google Drive, iCloud, OneDrive, Dropbox, or Amazon - you pay for cloud storage. This is a known fact.

Re:Edge functions: Node and native NPM compatibility on Wednesday December 13, 2023 @10:29AM (#38628788)
There's roughly 2900 issues still open from people that are having problems with Prisma https://github.com/prisma/prisma/issues
Re:Edge functions: Node and native NPM compatibility on Tuesday December 12, 2023 @07:07PM (#38620755)
do yourself a favor and ditch Prisma. It's a bloody mess of a project and codebase. I recommend https://github.com/drizzle-team/drizzle-orm to anyone that'll listen.
Re:Edge functions: Node and native NPM compatibility on Tuesday December 12, 2023 @03:45PM (#38618224)
how deep does the support go? i.e. can we safely import from node platform builtins like `os` or are the same bundling gymnastics still required there? (fwiw this is one of the major issues with vercel's edge funcs)
Let them cook. That's how many scientific breakthroughs begin.
