It would be the perfect scenario, I think people would pre-pay.
It’s an interesting model, you pay upfront and wait for 30 years.

So they have about 6m $$ that will always be in their account so they can kinda invest that, given that the US stock market has returned 6.8% on avg since the 1870s https://themeasureofaplan.com/us-stock-market-returns-1870s-...

They are actually making $1000+ per day at that return if they just invest their 6m, so 450$ loss is actually a 500$+ gain.

But I imagine they use the 6m to expand their business in which case the returns would be higher.

Re:Is this Paypal experience customary? on Friday July 05, 2019 @08:11AM (#20361891)
Just avoid Paypal, I’ve always had issues with them from funds being blocked for no reason to my account being blocked, their support is an absolute nightmare, also my friend sold something on eBay the buyer said she didn’t get it so PayPal took the money back from my friend, she sent it and it was signed for but not at the address listed on PayPal the address that has been given by the buyer so it’s not protected. Shady shady business

Ask HN: Should I take a job at a start up?

I got an offer from a start up with 1.5m in funding for about 30% less pay but 5% equity, the total valuation of the start up is 6.5m, should I take the job, I think the idea behind the start up is good, I would be joining as cto and I think the work would be interesting. And if it’s successful in 3.5 years I’d probably make a bit of money. What do you guys think?

Ask HN: Teach kids how to code in developing nations?

I’ve been traveling trough south east Asia and I’ve been thinking of setting up events where I teach kids how to code. My goal would be to get kids interested in programming by doing a weekend event where I give them a taste of what can they achieve with programming. What age groups would be suited for this sort of format? Is anyone doing something similar ?

Ask HN: How do you market a new product?

Me and a friend have built a product and have a few customers that find it really amazing, but for the product to be viable we need a lot more than that. We are both geeks and have no experience at marketing, or a budget to get a marketing guru to advise us so I’m just wondering what can we do? We’ve been thinking of sharing our profit with affiliates

Re:Ask HN: Remote dev box, using vscode, who needs it? on Monday March 04, 2019 @11:27PM (#19308107)
https://github.com/devbox-hero/ansible-roles - so the reason I made this was:

1. Since I work a lot from 3g, and other bad connections. I wanted to have some place I can do my work easily. You try download npm on 3g

2. Why do we buy $3-4k macbook pros when we can rent servers for like 25 cents an hour that are as good.
