I'm on one of the latest MacBook Pros and Firefox uses more CPU, RAM, and energy than Safari. I don't mind the extra CPU and RAM usage, but the energy usage needs some work, specially during idle time. On average the energy impact of the new Firefox has been double that of Safari.
Customize > Density (at the bottom) > "Normal" :)
That's great to hear. For a lot of users, Chrome is not the competition, but rather Safari, because Safari is energy efficient and privacy conscious. If Firefox can get as energy efficient, or even just close enough to Safari then it becomes THE clear winner.

Hear, hear.
The packaging enticed my GF, so she bought a couple to try. I wanted to like it because I liked premise of showing the ingredients right in the front. But boy oh boy was it hard to chew, and taste was nothing worthwhile.
RXBars have great packaging and marketing, but the bars are meh at best from my experience.
If you're on a Mac, I highly recommend Quiver - "The Programmer's Notebook" (

No affiliation, just like and use it :)
I'm surprised to hear you say that Vue has a large API, because one of my reasons for adopting Vue was its
small API. It allowed me to hold a mental model of the API in my head.
You can go through the entire docs in less than an hour and get down to business. I did not have this experience with Angular 1 (don't know about v2) or React.
Sure, though mentioning the rockets wasn't even a good example of his point, since every launch gets plenty of media coverage.
The part about the rockets is off. SpaceX is based in Hawthorne, CA, which is in the Los Angeles area. LA has a high density of aerospace engineers, which is one of the reasons Musk based SpaceX there.

I would like to be a fly on the wall during the meeting where they decided to add the "carpet."
Maybe they are trying to protect our hands from the cold metal, or mitigate the damage of coffee spills.
Regardless, that fabric will get dirty and smelly eventually (think dead skin cells). No matter how clean you are.
I assume you would be doing things in VMs, right!? So what cross-OS issues?
I don't think most people doubt the utility of Github, but this writing seems to be from a person living in a bubble.
Most people don't get the time and resources to work on open source. Some times, you can't even open source something, despite wanting to. For example, when I was in academia, I wanted to open source some worthwhile projects I had completed, but was never allowed to by superiors, because they considered them as competitive advantage IP.
Hired my good sir! When can you start?
Good thing you posted it on GitHub, otherwise how else can we know you can code. /s
Thanks for those links. I never knew the person behind Fuzzy Sets, a topic highly relevant to the HN crowd. Lotfi Zadeh is one of the giants we stand on.
Sallam throwaway jaan :)
Don't let this hold you back or defer your plans. As a former PhD student in the U.S, I can tell you that you have plenty of options in Canada and Europe. Some of my best professors studied in these areas.
Moafagh baash!
I can imagine a scenarios where modal can be conditionally shown based on URL query params.
How will this affect UI patterns like Modals?
True, but there are other frameworks that came around the same time and have not reached the momentum of Vue.
Vue is definitely much more approachable. I did not have this experience when using Angular not long ago.
To each their own, but I find the Vue API small and simple enough for me to keep it all in my head at once. Reasoning about things has become it a lot easier because of this.
The FF keynote was one of the worst I have ever seen. They barely even showed the car. They over-hyped and did not deliver on that hype.
If FitBit wants current Pebble users to be their future customers, they should definitely consider not making current Pebble devices useless.
I understand this is not a trivial task, but it looks like FitBit mostly acquired Pebble's software engineers. So it would nice to see a new FitBit flavored OS update for Pebbles. The hardware is there, it just needs the software support. Pebble hardware with FitBit health/fitness services would a be great combo.
I'm glad you enjoyed your time there. Did you visit Isfahan by any chance?
I agree, indeed we choose our own sources. However, the sentiment of my statement was to point out that it is peculiar that an empire as vast and influential as the Persian Empire is not treated like the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians in mainstream history education.
When I was young kid in Iran, there was a TV show made about the police chasing after a stolen piece of the Persepolis. The thieves were planning to sell it on the black market.
I watched the show every night, because I had visited Persepolis a few months earlier during a family vacation. Even at that age (4 or 5), I thought it was strange that there were essentially no guards or apparent supervision. I believe the tomb of Xerxes has a similar vibe.
There is going to be more tourism in Iran after the lifting of sanctions from Europeans, so this situation will definitely change for the better.
I'm Persian, but I received most of my education in the U.S, and I cannot recall the Persian Empire ever getting mentioned in history classes. Literally, everything else around Iran was mentioned. History is written by the victors.
You don't need to learn Farsi to go there. Many people know enough English words to help you around. Most of the youth were taught some English in high school and college, and many of them can speak fluently and even understand you completely.
Plus, the best way to learn Farsi is to be in the environment that speaks it. You'll be surprised how fast it is to pick up.
European and Asian tourists are abundant and common place. If they can do it, so can you :)
How are you guaranteeing 100% uptime if your service relies on third-party infrastructures?

Barely anyone has mobile safari open.I believe you are misinformed about this one. Not only is mobile Safari open, but it's open with a bunch of tabs.
It is without a doubt not easy task to release a product with the polish of a MBP, but as you said, you would think there would be something competing at an equal level by now.
I don't think Lenovo's efforts lived up to the glory of the Thinkpad line, but I will give them credit for the X1 Carbon. Though the Carbon only comes in a 14" model.
From an industrial design standpoint, the Surface Book is fantastic and demands respect. I bought the Surface Book when it first came out, and that thing was always overheating, which is a no-go for something trying to be a tablet/notebook. It also suffered from various issues when it launched. Microsoft actually asked Best Buy to stop selling them for a brief moment while the issues were fixed.
