It will not happen because the rich will always keep standards of living of the average and poor people just at the low level that they will not rebel.

But can we use the idea inside the training loop, as an optimizer instead of (or next to) e.g. Adam?
Re:Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @04:51AM (#50349986)
Would it make sense to use the technique inside a training loop? E.g. instead of an optimizer like Adam?
Re:Scaling Git at OpenAI on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @03:47AM (#50349586)
Ideas are getting cheaper with the day, so convergence is less likely every day too.

DRAM ...
Are they going to build a lawyer AI? They have the data for it.

Not just memory, also its stamina.

How long until OpenAI will disable this feature, though?

(of course for users, not themselves)

Is their headcount increasing or decreasing?
Re:Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen on Monday November 02, 2026 @04:48PM (#50344318)
So can we replace the optimizer (e.g. Adam) by an LLM and get better/faster convergence?

We're getting close to the singularity now ...

Maybe it is time to start sharing public PGP keys.

Re:If you love a website, back it up on Monday November 02, 2026 @11:39AM (#50339480)
Yes, and with AI you can even back up the logic behind a website (the back-end), and even generate fake but plausible data to fill it if crawling is too much work.
That might have to do with financial climate (also the reason why there is more innovation in US compared to Europe, at least from the public's perspective).

I'm on an nvidia jetson which comes out of the box with Ubuntu pre-installed (it's slightly more complicated but that's the gist). You can run other OSes but it is a messy experience and you can easily run into problems.

Yes, it is shitty from nvidia that they do it this way. But it is also convenient.

Or break them. They might release proteins faster.
This is exactly the kind of thing we've all been warning about ...

Re:Ask HN: Which TV do you recommend for privacy? on Monday November 02, 2026 @06:57AM (#50335670)
With these things I always wonder if there is not a hidden extra layer of root below it.

Panelook.com (DIY)
The average/median consumer may get what they want. However, unfortunately in practice it means that lots of people will not get what they want. It's like the tyranny of the majority that some people believe is a part of democracy.

People came up with the word "enshittification" for a reason ... and the word is quite popular on HN, so make of that what you want.

Re:Enlightenment 0.28.0 Release on Sunday November 01, 2026 @12:31PM (#50327684)
By the time they reach 1.0 we've long switched from working with GUIs to speaking to AI.
I was just implying that the (free, unregulated) market does not always give the consumer what they really want. With two examples where demand does not lead to consumers "winning".

(No offense or underhanded arguments.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Net_neutrality

So you don't believe that enshittification is a thing?

And that net neutrality is a good thing to enforce?

How about a mu-copper faraday cage?
> But the GPU vendors won't really have an incentive to do this

Unless the GPU vendors start selling end products? It's much more lucrative to sell locked down end-user devices after all. Shareholders will demand it.

> Hardware will keep getting stronger

Unless it is locked down by the vendor, or perhaps even governments. Which at some point will start happening more and more ...

How do we know Fable 5 is not secretly a swarm of models?
Re:Electrification Could Cut Global Energy Use in Half on Sunday November 01, 2026 @09:07AM (#50325836)
Expect that cost to rise as the infrastructure for gas disappears.
Thanks to AI, yes.
What is the propagation speed of this pilot wave?

EDIT: ok, I asked AI and this speed is infinite, which is why the theory doesn't mesh well with relativity.

What did the LLM bug check say?
