Re:Google Chrome is breaking the web forward on Friday October 23, 2026 @04:58AM (#50206196)
long time ago, i joined a mass protest on the chromium-dev mailing list because google was unilaterally trying to remove a certain javascript functionality that plenty of people still heavily relied on.

i don't even know whether we won that fight or not... but, good times.

most of the things within a half-hour walk from us are actually banned on wikipedia because they're not notable enough.. i was expecting this site to let us freely add "those forbidden" things. i had high hopes when reading the title alone..

turns out, it just filters existing wikipedia articles based on their proximity to a given coordinate.

haha. back then i also used this exact same method to search for a song i'd heard a long time ago (but i didn't know either the artist or the title). it wasn't really that complicated, since i just reproduced the chorus using a keyboard. turns out somebody on the forum knew the song and gave me the details, so i finally reunited with that song after decades.

We have matter-antimatter asymmetry in physics... and now I just learned there's a similar concept in chemistry (one variant frequently occurs in life while the other mirrored variant is rarely found in nature)

I immediately noticed something was wrong when the "daily tech message board" appeared. Before that point, I 100% believed that this was a real story.
