Publishing it gives an additional advantage that people are more likely to use and cite your work over a peer's who has a similar paper but no code.
What do you mean by actual article? How is it different from a blog post? And why don't you like blog posts? Just curious :)

I suck at staying in touch with people. So much that I'm planning to build an app, where I can make a list of contacts I care about and it'd notify me if I didn't speak to someone for a long time.I want to keep it simple for the everyday user. However, I think I can add more features. One feature I thought was regarding gifting. Make a note of what each person is into in the form of tags. Say...

I'm trying to decide between ML PhD at 5-10 CS school (in USA) and RE at FAANG (It is one of the applied teams and not pure research teams like FAIR/Google Brain)If going to industry is eventual goal, which of these two options is preferable?ML PhD - Highly reputed but takes 5 years to finish. Not sure if the effort + wait is worth the reward.
RE - Might not be cutting edge work. Focus is still...
Do you save the user's key in server to decrypt? If that's the case, how are the notes truly 'private'?
How does syncing across devices work?
I'd like to know more about this. I always equated printing money to inflation. Why isn't this the case? Can you point me to some good books for the same? Thanks!

Why would we need document simulators for it? Isn't all we need good OCR systems?
Why would someone go through this prep for 4 years when they can just register through uber and start driving?
They mentioned that they'd publish a paper soon. Why is it a problem, then?
Haha. 'Previous' work place :)
This happened at my previous work place. They added 1 free byte every time they saved some data to disk. When I asked my manager about it, he said - ' There was a crash a while ago and this fixed it. No one knows why, but this is what we all do after that'

Exactly!! I always wondered why it took so many years for someone to figure out a revenue model for couchsurfing ('couchsurfing' website started in 2003 and AirBnB in 2008). AirBnB is just that (atleast at start)
I really like this app, but 20$ pm is too much as a student :)
What are the usecases? And why is it worth 29$ pm? Isn't it too steep?
Is this LIDAR and the LIDAR in self-driving cars same? If they are, why can't elon put it in a car when Apple put it in a phone?
Build a more personalized news experience? Hide publishers you're not interested in?
Don't people from facebook see this'd increase the already existing polarization and information bubbles?
How would you use this information?

I'm thinking of creating a new AI powered note-taking app which has features like 'auto suggest', 'search using natural language', 'asking natural language question to get answer using notes as knowledge base ', etc. What other features would you like to see?PS: Suggest your wildest feature request.
How does over-roasting help with consistency?
On a similar note, dunkin serves light roasts. I'd presume they also want consistency?
Most conclusions from the comments seem to be that
1. Sourcing quality beans is costly.
2. Majority of the people don't care.
For 1 - For a single coffee shop, quality of beans is not the most significant part of price. They can increase ~10c per cup and get much better quality of coffee[0]. However, this might be tough as Starbucks need to source same beans across the world.
For 2 - Following 1, if you only need to increase 10c, and get significantly better coffee, why won't you do it? You're already the leader in 3rd spaces, why not be a leader in coffee too, for a much better moat?

Interesting. I didn't know about this. Wow!
Why not? Why can't high quality food scale?

For researchers who've founded a company before -How would you approach your PhD if you want to start a company during/after your PhD? How would this influence the choice of advisor you choose, schools you pick, etc?For background: I'm applying for a PhD in ML (NLP to be specific) and am actively thinking about this question

Majority of coffee fans say their local coffee shops make better coffee than starbucks. If that's so, why doesn't starbucks, with all it's money and resources become better than local coffee shops. What is it missing?
How are these shoes different?
