amazing, i didn't know PDF supported javascript.
i've tried making "interactive" PDFs before but using POST and server side rendering rather than client, e.g. a PDF typewriter i made a little while back on http://news.coffee
post it on lobsters first, then if its good, someone else will probably repost it here without your having to do anything, and then handful of people that saw it over there will likely upvote it on here also. good luck
you shouldn't join that guy's $375 thing.
whoa, that was easy, can you believe i just saved you $375?
if you're feeling generous for my saving you a WHOPPING $375, i only ask for a small small tip request of $3. win win for both of us. i saved you some cash, and now you've got $372 in your pocket. :handshake:

the maze game (screamer) permanently rewired my brain to avoid anything like this on the internet forever. staring at the dot for 2 seconds is already nerve wracking - will an exorcist face suddenly pop up? is it worth the risk? never again

the line about "The truth is never going to come out" is related to the uncertainty of whether or not it came from a lab, not (as the piece implies) having anything to do with "They also thought they were going to get away with it". it's very misleading and should be corrected
yeah, and they've effectively trapped those 2M users, because when you go to delete your Threads account, it will say that by doing so it will also delete your Instagram account as well... ouch
its a good question. i accumulate so many temporary images saved from day to day internet usage that at the end of the year there's just thousands and thousands of files. i started a ritual a few years ago where i would comb through all of my 'temp' images throughout the year and pick my favorite and turn it into a slideshow; for me that's been the best way of taking my favorite images, doing something with them, then not having to think about it any more. heres one from 2021 [0]

when saving files i type something like fjfjwoaefawoefuawojefjiaowef.jpg and then am always amazed when it says ive already created a file with that exact file name
yeah the site is bad, but not because it is boring, but because it should be even more simplified than how it is now. almost of the CSS "finishing touches" have something wrong with them. the content shifts on page load:
https://hiccupfx.telnet.asia/nielsen.gif bizarre dropdown button behavior:
https://hiccupfx.telnet.asia/what.gif and i can go on and on. i don't feel this nitpick whining is unwarranted considering the site purports to be a leader in user experience.
in honor of Ted Kaczynski, i recently made a protocol called GATE that streams his manifesto on repeat, 24/7. if you have netcat, type `nc news.coffee 8931' to open the receiver.
once youre in, type 77777 and hit enter. (also, the transmitter is on port 8933)
RIP
it will always be "en jinks" to me
hey so we don't allow screens here, and we're going to ask you to leave.
hmm no thanks, im not going anywhere
county sheriffs office. yea hi, um, we have this guy, he wont leave our store, and um, yeah, he refuses to leave, and, we just need somebody to get him to leave. ok, what is your location? were at no screens cafe. ok we have someone on the way. okay, thank you
is there even a way to ignore words from a search any more on DDG? using "-" in front of a word doesnt prevent the word from showing up in results.
i love this example, having the domain automatically download a zip file that's the same name as the domain feels powerful.. (even though it could be used for malicious purposes). this could be a cool way for a musical artist to release an album, telling people to go to a zip domain and then it just downloads the album as a zip file.
a long while back, i set a global CSS rule to make all of the comments on HN the same black text color (rather than downvoted ones being greyed out). i like it so much more that way, because it treats everything as the same, and as a result, i haven't really noticed any sort of 'suppression' of thoughts; im oblivious to any downvoting that might be going on. the css rule is simply: span, span a {color:black!important}
i recommend the Jollo LNT license for all your pointless theatrical "copyright" needs. it does not use swear words, unlike "WTFPL", and is even more ambiguous. ive tried submitting it to the FSF before for review, but they were confused by it
