Where’s the line between a manager enabling growth and an employee owning it?

I mean, he’s using his first amendment rights. That’s the point. What does his prior comments have to do with this?
Reddit is absolutely toxic.
Lots of Big Tech apologists in this thread.
I agree. Decentralization is the future.
Not being given leadership challenges, or if I take on a leadership challenge my manager takes credit.
You think the Hitler imagery is obvious? I would have never seen it.
Reddit has also been burning plenty of bridges with its more conservative user base. It’s a smaller subset but they’re looking for an alternative.
Everyone? Tens of millions voted for him. It was a close race.
That would run against the narrative. Completely agree.
I’m probably in the minority but I don’t believe this should not be on HN.
Only if it’s reviewed for cost of living adjustments each year IMHO. In Texas, DFW used to be cheap. It’s on par with Austin now.
Has UBI ever worked? What does success look like with a UBI program?
Amazing how many people are so against remote work here.
Hey, here’s a thought. Let people choose how and where they work best.
/thread.
Maybe employees should just decide for themselves how they work best.
I don’t understand why this is on HN.
Woah dude, slow your roll. I was saying M4A doesn't exist in the states at this time so, insurers will still expect payment if you get treated. That's all I'm saying.
Just because CV19 is a thing now doesn’t mean the US magically has Medicare for all.
Kickstarter employees vote to be unemployed.
Yes. I allocate 10 hours a week to this. It can be kind of overwhelming. I use the funds to pay for side projects and hobbies.
If you want boots, I highly recommend Tecovas.
Well, Google is a big company. Politics are a thing. A lot of younger hires don't know how to navigate that kind of environment. I had a lot of trouble in that area. I joined a smaller firm and things improved dramatically. As the smaller firm grew, I grew into understanding and learning how to navigate politics gradually.
You find this in every single industry. I used to work in public accounting and it was just like this. Google isn't special in this regard.
To author: good luck! If your startup takes off, let us know!
Yes.
My sister got this after a particularly grueling Crossfit session. She chalked it up to her being sore but her fiancé is a pediatrician and recognized the symptoms. Had she gone another 24 hours without treatment she could have destroyed her kidneys.
I haven't had good experiences with Shipt.
1. It wasn't available in my city initially. I'm still not sure if it is. I checked fairly frequently and was never notified. That was at least a year and a half ago.
2. Applied for an iOS gig with them after they posted on HN. I've been building apps for clients for 5 years now. Never got a reply. I even followed up with their lead personally via email. Nada. Just seemed weird since they kept posting to HN asking for talent.
Yes to remote.
I was at SXSW. All the startups I talked to bemoaned their hiring problem, yet none of them wanted to even consider remote workers.
Sorry, I'm not sympathetic to that.
I have worked a few weekends in a row for a few hours. I opted to not work one weekend and my PM went to my manager to raise concern about getting deliverables out in time for a client.
Alrighty! Thanks for the feedback!
