Re:GitHub has been sending me an email every two seconds.
on Friday March 27, 2026 @11:11PM (#47551205)
Had something similar happen once — easiest fix was just unwatching the repo and setting notifications to participating only. Also worth adding a temporary email filter so your inbox stays usable while it settles down.
Re:Ask HN: How do you deal with obvious AI assistant usage in interviews
on Thursday March 26, 2026 @11:05PM (#47538685)
I have noticed this too. One thing that helps is asking follow-up questions that go deeper into their past decisions or tradeoffs — it is much harder to fake real experience there. You can usually tell pretty quickly who actually understands vs who is just reading.
Re:Does nobody care about not being able to copy from Slack anymore?
on Wednesday March 25, 2026 @11:09PM (#47526246)
I have run into this too, it is really frustrating. Sometimes Slack rolls out small UX changes or bugs that break basic things like this on iOS, and it takes a while before they fix it. Usually updating or reinstalling helps, but not always.
Re:Ask HN: Do you feel less happy when coding with agent?
on Wednesday March 25, 2026 @12:17AM (#47513168)
Agents speed things up, but they also take away some of the small aha moments you get while figuring things out yourself. I think it depends on whether you enjoy the process or just the outcome.
Re:Ask HN: How to get free/cheap Claude and AWS credits
on Sunday March 22, 2026 @10:57PM (#47485029)
If you are just experimenting, the free tiers on AWS and GCP can go a long way if you keep things small. I have also seen people get credits through hackathons or startup programs, so that is worth checking too.
Re:Ask HN: The new wave of AI agent sandboxes?
on Sunday March 22, 2026 @04:36AM (#47475562)
From what I have seen, most of these work fine for basic isolation, but things get tricky when agents need real-world access or longer workflows. There is always a tradeoff between safety and usefulness, and it is still not fully solved yet.
Re:Ask HN: what’s your favorite line in your Claude/agents.md files?
on Sunday March 22, 2026 @04:34AM (#47475555)
I have had better results when I force the model to explain assumptions before doing anything. A quick what are you assuming here? step catches a lot of bad directions early and saves rework later.

on Thursday March 19, 2026 @11:08PM (#47450002)
I have seen similar issues when the linked Drive folder gets deleted or permissions change. Sometimes creating a new folder and triggering the upload flow again recreates the link. Not very obvious, but worth trying.
Re:Ask HN: Which router makers do you trust most?
on Wednesday March 18, 2026 @11:15PM (#47434458)
I have had the most stable experience with Asus and Ubiquiti. Asus is great for home setups, while Ubiquiti gives you more control if you are willing to spend time configuring it. Reliability mattered more to me than fancy features.
Re:What's your biggest challenge as a founder?
on Tuesday March 17, 2026 @11:06PM (#47421188)
For me it is not ideas or building, it is staying focused on what actually matters. It is easy to keep adding features instead of solving one real problem well.
Re:Ask HN: How is your team collaborating while working with coding ag...
on Sunday March 15, 2026 @11:13PM (#47394805)
From what I have seen, the teams that keep things simple tend to work better with coding agents. Most collaboration still happens in GitHub issues/PRs, and the agents are just another tool in the workflow. When too many docs and tools get involved, things start to feel messy quickly.
Re:Ask HN: What was it like for programmers when spreadsheets became u...
on Sunday March 15, 2026 @01:14AM (#47384555)
Spreadsheets did not replace programmers, they mostly changed who could build small solutions. A lot of quick calculations and internal tools moved to spreadsheets, while developers focused more on building systems around them. In many teams it actually increased the need for proper software later on.
Re:AI, Human Cognition and Knowledge Collapse – Daren Acemoglu
on Saturday March 14, 2026 @02:56AM (#47374053)
One thing I have been noticing is that when AI answers everything instantly, people stop digging deeper themselves. It helps with speed, but it may reduce the small bits of learning that normally accumulate over time. The long-term effect on how we build shared knowledge will be interesting to watch.
Re:Generate tests from GitHub pull requests
on Saturday March 14, 2026 @02:55AM (#47374040)
Interesting approach. I have noticed the same issue — AI tools generate a lot of code and unit tests, but real user-flow or edge-case testing often gets skipped. Having something that reads the PR context and suggests missing scenarios could actually catch problems earlier.
Re:Enabling Media Router by default undermines Brave's privacy claims
on Friday March 13, 2026 @03:35AM (#47361625)
Turning on any network discovery feature by default feels wrong for a browser that positions itself around privacy. Even if the risk is small, users should clearly opt in to anything that changes the browser’s network behavior. Transparency matters more than convenience in cases like this.
Re:Ask HN: Does anyone here use Discord as their work chat tool?
on Friday March 13, 2026 @03:35AM (#47361620)
I have seen a few small teams try Discord for internal chat. It works fine for quick conversations, but over time the lack of structured threads and searchable history can make work discussions harder to track. It tends to feel more like a community space than a workplace tool.
Re:Ask HN: How do we build a new Human First online community in the L...
on Wednesday March 11, 2026 @11:18PM (#47346009)
One thing that helped older communities was friction — things like slower posting, reputation built over time, and real participation history. When identity grows from consistent behavior instead of instant access, it is much harder for bots to blend in. Communities used to value that patience a lot more.
Re:Ask HN: How do you review gen-AI created code?
on Wednesday March 11, 2026 @12:25PM (#47337671)
In our team we treat AI-generated code the same way we treat junior-written code — the important part is whether the author actually understands it. During review we usually ask for a short explanation of the approach and edge cases they considered. If they can not explain it clearly, the code probably needs another pass.
Re:Ask HN: Finding a purpose after tech layoffs
on Wednesday March 11, 2026 @12:24PM (#47337653)
I have seen a few people go through this after layoffs. One thing that helped them was keeping a small daily routine — building something small, learning one thing, or contributing somewhere. Structure makes a bigger difference than we expect.
Re:Ask HN: How is Claude agent experience in Xcode 26.3?
on Wednesday March 04, 2026 @07:00AM (#47246255)
I tried the built-in integration briefly. The biggest improvement is not having to constantly switch between the editor and terminal — that alone makes the workflow smoother. It’s still early though, so I wouldn’t upgrade macOS just for that unless you’re already planning to.
Re:Ask HN: What's your experience self-hosting in 2026?
on Wednesday March 04, 2026 @06:59AM (#47246248)
I have tried self-hosting a few things over the years. It is great for control and privacy, but the maintenance overhead adds up quickly. For me it works best for small tools or personal utilities, while bigger systems are usually easier to leave as SaaS.
Re:Ask HN: What Online LLM / Chat do you use?
on Monday March 02, 2026 @10:10PM (#47227495)
I tend to rotate between a few depending on the task — some are better at summaries, others handle logic better. One thing that really helps is trying smaller niche models for specific use-cases instead of always defaulting to the big ones.
Re:Ask HN: Billions of dollars in funding, but what's changed for robo...
on Monday March 02, 2026 @09:39AM (#47218518)
From what I have seen, the biggest shift is not perfect generalization yet, but better perception and learning from real-world data. The demos look more capable, but reliability over long periods is still the hard part. It feels like progress is real, just slower than the funding hype suggests.
Re:Ask HN: Article to share with a technical manager about modern AI c...
on Sunday March 01, 2026 @04:56AM (#47205282)
In my experience, the biggest shift is not just code generation but how these tools help with exploration and refactoring. They are great for speeding up routine work, but you still need judgment around architecture and edge cases. Treating them as assistants, not replacements, sets the right expectations.

on Sunday March 01, 2026 @04:53AM (#47205260)
The biggest signal I have noticed over time is consistency, not just one good post. Accounts that participate normally for weeks build a kind of trust naturally. Maybe weighting activity history more than identity verification could help without hurting anonymity.

Re:Ask HN: Do fast-moving DevTools need localized documentation?
on Saturday February 28, 2026 @10:28AM (#47196435)
From what I’ve seen, English works fine for most developers, but localized docs really help beginners get comfortable faster. The bigger issue is keeping translations updated — once they fall behind, they create more confusion than value. Many teams underestimate that maintenance cost.
AllInOneTools – Free, no-login tools that run in the browser
Hi HN,I built AllInOneTools to solve a simple frustration: most small online tools ask for signup, load slowly, or push ads everywhere.I wanted tools that open instantly and let you finish the task without friction. So I built a collection of browser-based utilities that:– require no login – run directly in the browser – focus on speed and simplicityThe goal is simple: open → do the task →...
Re:Claude Code Bug triggers Rate limits without usage
on Saturday February 28, 2026 @02:12AM (#47191539)
I have seen similar rate limit errors even when usage was low, and in my case it was tied to background sessions and cached conversations. Starting a completely new session or logging out and back in sometimes cleared it. Might be worth trying if you have not already.
