Slowly migrating my domains to Cloudflare as they near expiration. Namecheap's quality and service has downgraded so much in the last several years. It's no longer worth it with the pricing updates.
Cloudflare has been pretty reliable so far. I've been using their services since the beginning.
Because Claude is a tool, just like other development tools. We don't say "My IDE built it", or "the compiler built it", regardless of the optimizations and generated output it provides.
Claude (and LLMs in general) takes an input and generates an output as a general purpose tool.
It gives more confidence in the service at the time I'm thinking about the order. I want it to be reliable so I don't need to track and worry about it.
> capable of deciding how to frame the images, how to stage them, what lighting was required, how to edit them
This is all possible now. I don’t think it’s dead (yet), but it’s certainly becoming more weird and artificial.
Same. I feel like JetBrains has an advantage here, so I'm hoping they're working on something compelling. The traditional IDE setup is quickly dying.
I'm usually working between VSCode and Codex/Claude Code at the same time, but find myself mostly in latter these days.
I think this is it. It's hard to tell what the future of IDE development (if any) looks like at the pace AI is going. So everyone is building agentic workflows for a fast moving target. What will happen when the code generated is already 99.9% trustworthy and doesn't need the human-based tooling of an IDE anymore? It feels like we're almost there.
I do think JetBrains has an advantage here with their background and reputation. I'm constantly reshaping my tools literally every month, so hopefully they build some type of staple development IDE to fit these type of workflows. I don't know what that is yet.
AIR looks interesting, but I can't say this is the "AI IDE moment" yet.
Great idea. UI looks good and clean as well as mobile-friendly. Thanks for this, bookmarked.
Astro is great. I've recently been using it on another project that I have hosted on Cloudflare. So much faster too.
Were you staying in Shinjuku or Shibuya? Those areas can get particularly dirty in recent years. I think overall Tokyo is still pretty clean in comparison from other places I've lived or traveled though.
Yep, I live in Tokyo too and I love this city. However, one of the first things I did when I moved here was buy a car to travel and explore outside of Tokyo for the weekends.
Hi, Video Commander creator here. Thanks for the submission!
Happy to answer any questions!
Recently refreshed my FFmpeg command builder tool:
https://ffmpeg-commander.com
I originally built this around 7 years ago in Vue2 and Bootstrap as a simple static frontend tool to generate common ffmpeg commands.
I recently ported it over to Vite/React/Tailwind via Claude (Opus 5) and thought it did a pretty good job. So refreshed it as a version 2.0.
Quite impressed how fast AI was able to port this over. It made me think about revitalizing some old projects. :)
Launched a suite of media inspection and encoding tools a few months ago, based on FFmpeg and VMAF. Slowly getting more customers.
https://video-commander.com
Constantly and carefully iterating through refinement and features. It's built on Rust + Tauri with a React frontend, in case anyone is curious.
I've created various open-source and commercial tools in the multimedia space over the last 10+ years and wanted to put it all together into something more premium with an IDE-like experience.
Most recently I added a /playground area to experiment with the inspection tools via a WASM build, which I thought was a neat way for users to try the app before downloading the full version.
Happy to answer any questions!

Cultural differences, especially with increased tourism in Japan lately. There's a lot we can learn from each other and people like to share their experiences. Is it really that surprising these topics come up more often?
Like outside? It's so wild to me how some can step into their living space (or even bedroom) with the same shoes they use outside.
Yep, getting a 503 service unavailable when trying to npm audit. And of course their status page is green.
Crazy how even npm doesn't run their own tools to test uptime.

One of my favorite pieces of software. FFmpeg has done so much for my career. Happy to see it still going strong.
I always tell friends to just go to any east exit and make their way outside. That's most likely where they're headed and it's easier to navigate outside the station than inside.
This resonates. I feel like this is also how I go about networking and making new friends, by joining or building a community and events around them. From personal hobbies and even workplace related events.
Never take community events for granted. There's always people behind the scenes putting in the effort to make it happen, it didn't just come out of nowhere.
I've only owned 2 GoPros, the latest one I purchased back in 2020. I use it mostly for motorsports related content and it did it's job well, but never had a need to replace or upgrade to the latest. Now there's so many options.
Ignore the haters. I really enjoyed reading your article as a GR Yaris owner. This car is so much fun.

Ah, seems they've been resetting it again for all users.
This is really cool. Actually reading this while on the yamanote line going to work!
I used up all my Fable credits over the weekend and looks like it’s completely reset as of today.
