that's exactly what I was looking for, many thanks!

Ask HN: Framework/Platform for API Documentation

Do you know or have experience with a framework, that allows building such docs with code samples on the right as, for example Stripe does - https://stripe.com/docs/checkout/integration-builderor React Router - https://reactrouter.com/web/guides/quick-startMany thanks for your feedback!

Re:Show HN: Okdb – OT Simplified on Thursday October 01, 2020 @02:13AM (#24647887)
Postgres has advanced dramatically in last years and is mostly a default choice in our consulting projects. Take, for example native support for row-level security - https://www.postgresql.org/docs/9.5/ddl-rowsecurity.html

However, we are going to support other databases like Mongo and MySQL.

yes, we forked and customized sharedb under the hood, more databases and out-of-the-box functions for collaboration are in progress.

We haven't published the sources yet, it will appear on https://github.com/okdb-io soon.

Yes, I hope that realtime apps will be our future :)

Regarding integration - okdb provides hooks, so that you can implement custom authentication/verification, e.g. verify JWT token. For details, have a look at the docs here - https://okdb.io/p/docs/api/server#s5.1

Happy to answer any other questions

Hi HN, I'm the author of okdb - wrote it to make it easier to create collaborative apps.
Interesting, I've built a similar project that generates GraphQL API based on your database schema - https://okdb.io

Re:Ask HN: Is open source a must for developer tools? on Sunday July 12, 2020 @05:17AM (#23810059)
Yes, I was thinking about libraries that may boost productivity and avoid writing something from scratch.

Managed solution is a good option, need to find a way to build trust at the beginning though.

Understood, thank you. Upmarket is an interesting area to focus on first, even it's not that scalable.

Interesting perspective, reminds me of a game theory. Thanks!

Ask HN: Is open source a must for developer tools?

I would like to build a business around developer tools and see that most of developer tools are open-source (Apollo GraphQL, Prisma, Spring Framework, etc). However when bootstrapping without venture capital, open-sourcing your work may make it easy to copy you.Is open-sourcing and running as fast as you can the only viable option for developer tools today?

Re:Building a high performance JSON parser on Sunday June 28, 2020 @06:34AM (#23667897)
True, miss it also sometimes. It will not be as lightweight though - reminds me about SOAP/WSDL times.

GraphQL goes in this direction by enforcing type checks, but is designed for web frontends...

Re:TiDB 4.0 GA Release on Tuesday June 23, 2020 @04:30AM (#23611284)
getting downvotes... probably because my comment sounds like it should not be important, that's not what I mean.

There are database products like MongoDB with closed source. I was curious about the author's reasoning in this particular case. E.g. apart of transparency and community contributions, etc

Interesting, why open source is important for you?

Re:Ask HN: Why does Europe not have any big tech companies? on Sunday December 15, 2019 @06:07AM (#21795625)
It's more difficult to scale in Europe, because of multi-language, multi-culture and regulations across the countries.

Understood, thanks. The "Where Are The Big Ideas" is my favourite.

lots of work and many facts, wow. Do you do the analysis manually or extract the facts somehow automatically?

With nested categories/annotations it's now much-much simpler to store many links and then come back to them later.

Will be glad to hear your feedback!

The bookmarking idea indeed isn't new but still hasn't been solved fully yet.

Delicious is not that great anymore and others try to gain the ground. What will be your value proposition? Because there is a competition:
