Cold weather or hot doesn't matter to me. I enjoy everything. I do want to become a web developer eventually doing remote work but until I learn everything to know about freelance web developing I will work at a bar or warehouse whatever it takes to survive out there. Not sure how the whole Visa thing works or if they'll let me stay there past 90 days I got aunt out there
Re:Ask HN: Thinking of moving to Europe from USA on Saturday December 31, 2016 @09:47AM (#13291234)
freelancing sounds nice but I'm willing to just work out there and start from the bottom to make my way up.

Re:Show HN: Learn to Code for Free on Saturday December 03, 2016 @06:46AM (#13095349)
just curious why Ruby for beginners or is this a course for people with some knowledge of code? why not choose JS or PHP
Re:Show HN: Learn to Code for Free on Wednesday November 23, 2016 @06:28PM (#13026660)
cause PHP isn't magic like Ruby on Rails.
Re:Show HN: Learn to Code for Free on Wednesday November 23, 2016 @06:27PM (#13026650)
that's good to hear because as a beginner I struggle with the magic parts of the web . Most tutorials nowadays are all magic.

you guys located in Seattle? I live in Seattle.
Re:Show HN: Learn to Code for Free on Wednesday November 23, 2016 @02:56AM (#13020936)
for you it sounds great but for someone like me I like to understand how things work under the hood. Yeah I made a blog in 15 minutes using Ruby and Rails but how did that happened under the hood? I like to fully understand things not just be told how to do it.

I guess that's why PHP being embedded in HTML allows me to see the bigger picture.

how does this compare to www.codermanual.com?
Re:Show HN: Learn to Code for Free on Wednesday November 23, 2016 @02:47AM (#13020897)
That sounds nice, How Does it cover HTML, JS and Ruby on Rails in Depth? I assume that would take a long time lol
Re:Show HN: Learn to Code for Free on Wednesday November 23, 2016 @02:09AM (#13020730)
I'm guessing this course isn't aimed at people who's new to Web development? how are we suppose to know some of those rail commands? like generate scaffold blog posts?
Re:Show HN: Learn to Code for Free on Wednesday November 23, 2016 @02:03AM (#13020703)
would be nice to find something like this for PHP
Re:Show HN: Learn to Code for Free on Wednesday November 23, 2016 @01:46AM (#13020622)
not a lot of people have money to just pay for everything on top of daily living bills. Less people would use it if it involved money.
Re:Show HN: Learn to Code for Free on Wednesday November 23, 2016 @01:42AM (#13020612)
all most all of the web is written in PHP, a beginner can't understand how everything fits together by learning Ruby. With php you can literally insert it into HTML. For me is all about the big picture, Plus I think there are more jobs in PHP than Ruby
