Re:Ask HN: Which TV do you recommend for privacy? on Monday November 02, 2026 @05:05AM (#50334938)
Curious -- Does Samsung smart TV (circa 2019) allow us to root? Where can I find the community and tools around Samsung devices.

Ask HN: Can a NTFS driver for macOS be vibecoded?

Ran into this while swapping external drives between Windows and Mac -- it seems the only reliable way to keep the benefits of NTFS (journaling) and allow writes from MacOS is to use third-party $ commercial drivers.I am not knowledgeble about what makes a driver so I asked (Gemini) -- and I am told this involves a fairly complex low level OS hooks and bypassing OS protections etc with a lot of...

But is this compliant with Google / YouTube terms?

I have wanted to make custom YouTube wrappers for specific interests that avoid ads and distractions. There are communities like say fans of a certain music genre etc that would find the curation etc useful. But I always thought posting publicly with your name attached is a bit grey/risky.

Re:We Took over ChatGPT Accounts on Saturday October 31, 2026 @11:17AM (#50316938)
Claude Code terminal has "remote control" option activated via /rc command. -- somewhat similar in that it still runs the session on the PC/Mac but allows the Claude authenticated user to access the session via internet / app

I am guessing this ChatGPT functionality is a similar Codex feature?

But this session is disconnected when the conversation is /exit ed

The hacks and vluns are blending into a blur for me now -- why is Binance confirming Anthropic compromise while they have their own $6 Billion compromise to look at /s

Vibecoders are safu

maybe we should tag submissions with dates now?

Re:I Returned My iPhone Duo on Friday October 30, 2026 @05:37AM (#50301613)
I never bought a flagship phone until very recently but I did switch (budget) phones and still remember the excitement of trying brand new phones with very different physical and software features. I also remember recent (Android, in my case) phone upgrades feeling meh after setting up new phone.
Wow -- never knew about "Bowsed by Individual" - because i never had to "Setup Slide Show"

Thanks for teaching me something!

Re:We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4 on Friday October 30, 2026 @12:46AM (#50299951)
slightly off topic --

Mistral has "Mistral Vibe CLI" that is similar to Codex / Claude Code -- and it is supposed to have some small quota to allow free usage.

I tested it a few months ago and it seems okay -- no where close to SOTA but still a fall back for very simple tasks. I tried it again this week and it times out and says requests are rate limited even when we start with just a "hi".

Anyone knows if this is still an active project or abandoned.

Doesn't Codex too have a "guardian" agent sending a session transcript whole to the model to help in auto approvals ?.. I believe I saw these session histories alongside my regular chat transcripts.
Just a datapoint but Microsoft Teams (most commonly paired with users of Powerpoint) has an option to share and present just a slide deck where viewers can tag along the presenter or jump forward and back to view the rest of the deck independently from presenter.

But in quite a few cases presenter would want to control when information is presented/revealed to audience.

Re:OBS Studio 33 on Saturday October 24, 2026 @03:28AM (#50219007)
I too frequently plug and unplug dock and external displays. It's a little painful to keep checking and sometimes re-add display source to get the default screen and voice recording working.

I wonder if the "modern" way for problems of this nature is to fork the open-source repo and ask your favourite agent to strip it down to bare essentials that you need (performance gains) and add the specific feature enhancements you want (needs to work only for your configuration -- may not pass the quality standard needed for a PR)

next product idea for Rabbit r1 team - 3D print a case with a screen that shows this page cropped to show just the device.

Wonder if they just reclassified all operational systems as pre-production, post-production, quasi-production etc.

Re:OpenAI CLI on Thursday October 22, 2026 @03:20AM (#50192244)
Does this consume the monthly flat rate subscription quota or API credits.

Does Anthropic have something similar.

I understand "claude -p" has been unreliable to use with subscription quota and often required "extra usage" credits.

This was super useful. Thanks.

That last slide with a QR code that purports to embed the entire document/deck is intriguing.

I presume there are practical limits to the file size here?

And images inside slides must be impossible to fit it right away?

Has anyone successfully jailbroken Amazon Echo and Google Home devices to make them Claude/ChatGPT assistants without any telemetry/dependency on Amazon/Google respectively.
