I can't agree with this list enthusiastically enough. Thank you.

I might start with the ACLU and Amnesty International.
Stranger things have happened. My curiosity is still piqued though.
Re:Ask HN: How do you remember syntax? on Sunday September 20, 2015 @04:35PM (#10248978)
I'm inclined to disagree with repetition. Spaced repetition may be effective but taking something and describing it in your own words(elaboration) will help with retention AND comprehension. If you can explain something to someone else well enough for then to understand it, then you probably understand it decently enough to be well on your way to memorization.

Nothing surprising but nothing to be ignored.

Cocaine can't advertise on tv? And bowling is less colorful.
Oh cool, Alt Soc?

Another thing Digg deserves tons of credit for is emphasizing visual journalism along with text. There is no excuse not to include at least an eye-grabbing photo with most stories.
Peace! :)
Re:Real Men Go to Sleep on Thursday December 05, 2013 @04:37PM (#6857450)
Very few people are getting sufficient amounts of quality sleep at night, especially people with sedentary jobs.

10 points to Gryffindor!
That's some delicious satirical sociopathy. I feel you man.
A small player could manipulate volume by buying their own bitcoins and selling their own bitcoins. There's no reason why you couldn't shuffle your own bitcoins around forever...

You're on to something when discussing Rob's ability as a writer. Smart money says communication is his real strength. By speaking in startup/engineer vernacular to starry eyed bored dreamers(you: hn, vice, digg, reddit consumers) he's generated millions in pre-sales and investment without delivering anything.
Trust. After you sell me your cat for an imaginarily large amount of currency, why continue to spend your gains or buy my imaginarily intensely valuable cat?

Meh. Sorry you ever felt awkward at parties?
Silverlight is such a waste of resources and a pox of vulnerabilities. Flash is bad, Silverlight is worse and the sooner services everyone uses stop using them the better.

Gross, why are human beings packing Soylent?
You do but privacy policies and what who can see on whose time line keeps changing. Timelines haven't always been a thing either. So if you've used facebook for a while, the incoherent and mercurial scope of information prevents you from wanting to share anything that could be misinterpreted by anyone. And you have to assume that everything will be scraped somewhere for all of eternity.
Re:The BadBIOS Analysis is Wrong on Friday November 01, 2013 @06:40PM (#6656999)
Me too. But if we say nothing about believing this to be a prank, do we become the prankors?
Hmm. That's interesting.

If you're at Davis and get a chance to study with Dr. Isbell, take it, she's great!
Re:The PC is not dead, we just don't need new ones on Thursday October 24, 2013 @02:35PM (#6607024)
The last few times I looked at the desktops available at Targets and Walmarts in the Bay Area, there weren't very many options. Bestbuy and Costco are somewhat better equipped. I think that, with the lower margins on desktops relative to laptops and the amount of space they consume, desktop PCs are well on their way out of being attractive to traditional brick and mortar retailers.

Haswell architecture couldn't have hit the market at a better time for laptop owners, with more powerful integrated graphics and low power use. I'm sure it isn't a coincidence.

Great instructors. Zach Dodds is the man!
