I’m on mobile so don’t have the link handy but there’s a fork called Thaw that has been getting frequent updates
This is insanely naive
So a tiny slap on the wrist

Disagree. With a little bit of technical knowledge which I’m assuming most people browsing hacker news have, these services are easy to spin up and use.

If you can read a README you can set up Navidrome and point it to your local library in 5 minutes.

I use YouTube every day of my life and gladly pay premium. It costs money to host and serve the insane amount of video YouTube provides. To each his own
Radarr has made my movie collection/watching experience super easy after some initial setup. Highly recommend

Think the backlash regarding 1password’s electron implementation is overblown. I’ve not had any issues with it

Re:Chime is laying off 12% of its workforce on Wednesday November 02, 2022 @08:58PM (#33445225)
I was an ally customer for the longest time and their app and website have degraded in quality. Login is abysmally slow and there have been multiple times I was not able to login at all. Recently switched to capital one 360 and so far so good.

Re:Ask HN: Any programmers use non-standard editors? on Wednesday April 13, 2022 @10:54PM (#31022956)
Nova?
I use Microsoft’s Authenticator and so far have had no problems. I also use 1Password’s built in 2FA functionality which is a little redundant but it makes filling in 2FA code on websites and apps very easy.
FUD. Provide sources for your claims.
+1 for freetaxusa. Been using them for the past couple years and have had no problems
Re:Ask HN: What Are You Learning? on Friday June 25, 2021 @02:51AM (#27627861)
Unfortunately(?) ds and algos + leetcode for interviews but I’ve been approaching it as an investment. Hopefully my future self making tons of money will thank me
Re:Be My Eyes on Friday January 15, 2021 @01:26PM (#25794208)
I’ve only received a couple calls in the time I’ve had the app but my overall experience was great. Helped a guy cross a busy intersection and another woman pick out some low-fat milk. Feels good to help man.
Re:Firefox 83 introduces HTTPS-Only Mode on Tuesday November 17, 2020 @01:50PM (#25127914)
"When Firefox autocompletes the URL of one of your search engines, you can now search with that engine directly in the address bar by selecting the shortcut in the address bar results."

This is what I've been missing from chrome!
