And the novelty is? I mean, everyone fantasized about life in outer space - why would the soviets not? Or is the novelty that it is amazing how the people that wrote those magazines somehow eluded the gulags? Because the answer there presumably is that they probably did not elude the gulags.
Things change, I get right now the US does not have the choice but this thing is not going away and choices have to be made as to how to deal with it. Raising awareness of other options that are successful is a good thing. Constructive criticism can help.

> Nearly all government leaders' first reaction is try to downplay disasters.. after all they are politicians, not science experts.
There is a difference between the capacity of US and EU to suppress information and the capacity of authoritarian Chinese State to do this. The media in US and EU does not take direction from the Government.
> The US government did the exact same thing even after China had already come to its senses.
Did the US govt allow wet markets with live wild animals to operate in China for the political gain of Xi Jinping and China? Did the US govt downplaying this change the reporting of the media? Did the US order samples destroyed and ordered laboratories to not release information? No?
Stop running cover for Xi Jinping.
Communism is not a race and Xi Jinping and the Communist Party of China are responsible and should be held accountable.
Sanction and fine the Chinese communist party and their officers for the catastrophe they inflicted on the world. Never again.

> Why must we always have a foreign enemy? Be it soviets, muslims, mexicans or now China.
I don't know? Why must "we"? Can't China just get it's shit in order? Is it too much to ask for?
> salaries, sector, years of experience and gender.
I'm fairly sure the biggest factor influencing wages is market value of your labour which is for the most part unrelated to years of experience.
> This is, I think, good for humanity.
I agree, I will and am gladly working overtime for which I will not get compensation in the hope of preventing layoffs at the company I work for. We all have to do our part to keep what economic activity we can going in the face of this crisis.

You know, I read this, and then I read other things implying we will fix climate change from this crisis, and I wonder ...
The markets has not reacted positively to this news because something possibly helping makes no difference. Actually making a difference to the situation makes a difference. Until the point where there clearly is something that makes a difference the outlook is really bleak.
> It would be nice to think that [...]
It sure would ... wouldn't it.
> it's super [] irresponsible to say "this is going to be like H1N1"
Good thing the person you responded to never said that.
I did, but podman with --rootfs is nicer IMO.
K3s is a lot easier to get working on rhel and fedora. Canonical tends to build things in ways that makes it barely work on Ubuntu and completely fail everywhere else. Same with lxc. I was a bit upset rhel dropped it in 8 and then I tried to get it running and saw the horror show and decided to rather look at rootfs podman.
> Furthermore, from what I have read, there is no known long-term immunity to CoV, but maybe a 4-month window of some level of immunity.
Going to need a cite on that one ...
By that time we may not even need it anymore.
No it means you may be able to get it working on more than one windows PC. Don't bet on it though.
> If a vaccine is found and is effective, likely the market will calm down and hit the bottom.
Realistic timeline for this seems months.
Norway is not EU. And many places that is not EU have employee protections. You don't need EU for that.
> My manager forced me to use teams
You know ... either quit or deal with the fact that not everybody in the world will accommodate you. I also don't like teams but common ... just buck up a bit. It could be worse, it could be actual Skype or Cisco jabber.
If your package only works with specific versions you should put those versions in package.json - if the versions in package.json is correct then what specific versions within those bounds someone uses is ... well ... unrelated to your package.
