Product Engineer. I build products from 0→1.

I work best while a product is still taking shape. I learn the market and user problem, talk with the people involved, use the available data, build the first useful version, and improve it through real use.

Recent work:

- Mobius: built a modular workspace I use across products and workflows to keep agents, modules, status, editing, and chat together: https://alexhorton.dev/project-mobius-frameworks - Energy Scout: built solar and battery decision tools using utility rates, incentives, quote data, and household goals: https://alexhorton.dev/project-energy-scout - Real Estate Leasing Engine: built a leasing system for two California apartment communities that connects listings, lead sources, follow-up, and reporting: https://alexhorton.dev/project-real-estate-lead-engine - Bitcoin ML: built research tools to test market signals with walk-forward evaluation, baselines, and Monte Carlo checks: https://bitcoinmachinelearning.com

I'm looking for Product Engineer Founding Product Engineer, or Forward Deployed roles where research, product judgment, and hands-on building are part of the same job. I'm especially interested in energy, housing, land, climate, environmental decision tools, and products tied to physical systems. I'm open to other domains where this way of working would be useful.

Forward-Deployed Engineer · I take an unclear idea, workflow, or dataset to a first useful product, then improve it with real use.

I work best when a team has a useful but unclear starting point: a new product, a messy workflow, a decision that needs better data, or an agent system that has to work safely with real people and tools.

Selected work:

- Real Estate Leasing Engine — the specific workflow running on Mobius: a measurable outreach → inquiry → tour → application → signed lease path.

- Mobius Frameworks — a meta-architecture I built for deploying agents, modules, and workspaces. It gives visibility into what each agent does, scoped permissions, approval gates, and operating cadences.

- Energy Scout — a homeowner solar/battery decision tool built from utility-rate and incentive data: https://energyscout.org

- Bitcoin ML — market-signal research using walk-forward and Monte Carlo validation: https://bitcoinmachinelearning.com

I'm looking for to work with mission driven engaged people who are doing interesting things that have a positive impact on the world. Roles shape might include Product Engineer, Applied AI Engineer, Agent product development, Business Operations/analyst, or selective Forward-Deployed Engineer work with teams building great products and processes.

Forward-Deployed Engineer. I work on unclear, real-world problems and build small systems that show whether the work changed the outcome. My loop: get the real data, find the bottleneck, ship a measured intervention, verify what happened, then reuse what held up.

Examples: - Built and deployed the same leasing test at two apartment buildings: Facebook reel creative → trackable landing page → CRM follow-up → occupancy timeline. Both properties now have a repeatable system for measuring what's working. - Energy Scout: solar/battery/quote decision tools for homeowners using real utility and incentive data. - Agent workflow systems across personal machines and VPS/cloud environments: model routing, approvals, task contracts, and artifact-based delivery using Claude Code, Codex, and Hermes.

Background in engineering, sustainability, and product design. I'm strongest where the problem is still partly undefined, the work touches the real world, and the right answer is some mix of research, software, systems thinking, and fast testing. Open to teams working in energy, housing, climate, AI tools, infrastructure, or anything else where this way of working would be useful.

I'm a product-minded AI engineer looking for applied-AI, forward-deployed, or AI-product roles where I own a measurable workflow outcome end to end: intake → diagnosis → build → deploy → measure. I run a private agent operating system across real projects — energy decision tools (EnergyScout), property financial diagnostics (PropFi), a lead engine (Meta creative → landing → CRM → source-to-result measurement), and quantitative research with strict out-of-sample validation (BitcoinML). I build the full loop myself: research, data, automation, media, deployment. I am personally motivated by projects with a strong ethos or mission. Historically I have worked in the fields of sustainability, economic empowerment (design for the 3rd world), and technological sovereignty-- exploring the connections between technology, society, and sustainability.

Looking for: applied AI, forward-deployed engineering, AI product engineering, or fractional AI operator roles — mission-led, zero-to-one, remote or Bay Area/Socal hybrid preferred.

Applied AI / product builder. I’m strongest at turning messy ideas, workflows, datasets, and APIs into useful AI-assisted products and prototypes — especially where product judgment, user understanding, automation, and modern LLM/agent tooling matter.

Recent work: - Built and operate a private multi-agent Hermes/OpenClaw-style workflow system with specialist agents, Telegram/voice interfaces, model routing, tool use, and persistent memory. - Built Energy Scout, a solar ROI/incentive decision-support tool for homeowners evaluating energy options. - Built Bitcoin Machine Learning, a financial signal research project using supervised ML and market/macro/on-chain data. - Built PropFi, a property analytics prototype using SQL/data modeling and real-time data/API integrations.

I’m not trying to present as a conventional senior backend/platform engineer. My edge is more unusual: I use AI tools and product sense to build useful systems quickly, connect APIs/data/workflows, prototype product surfaces, and find where LLMs or automation can create leverage.

I’m especially interested in agentic AI, AI devtools, workflow automation, climate/energy/resilience, sustainable agriculture/food systems, fintech/proptech, education, open-source/public-interest tech, and tools that make people or small teams more capable.

Best fit: founder-led or small teams that need a product-minded AI builder / systems integrator / prototyper who can help move an ambiguous idea toward a working product.

Full-stack engineer with ML background. I've independently shipped three
production platforms — a solar energy data platform (energyscout.org),
a systematic ML trading system (bitcoinmachinelearning.com), and a real

Cal Poly, supplemented with data science coursework from MIT and Stanford.

Looking for early-stage teams (seed to Series A) where I can own
significant surface area and build things that matter in the real world —
energy, climate, ag, fintech, or anywhere software meets physical systems.
