Quark 4 was definitely full of quirks and there were plenty of things it just couldn't do. It featured decent keyboard shortcuts, though, which I once relied on daily for newspaper layout — and which proved quite difficult to teach to my successor as, ultimately, I knew them only by feel!

Warning: this article contains an auto-playing video of the incident.

The truncated segment of King St. is presently a well-entrenched shantytown: https://goo.gl/maps/wi9TNPXzLST2
I've worked with Apple on homepage advertising and believe the likelihood of that placement being programmatic is very low.

Cryptographic puzzle at http://minotauragency.com/

I received an unsolicited email pointing me to http://minotauragency.com/, where there's a sloppy GoDaddy-hosted website containing a cryptographic puzzle. I'm not too apt to spend time solving it but I thought it might interest the community. (In case anyone thinks to scan for subdomains, I already did so and haven't come up with anything useful. I'm not sure I care enough to write a scraper.)...

We've been notified about this issue and we'll take a look at it shortly."

Re:How to Build a 'Paywall' That Doesn't Break the Web on Thursday August 04, 2011 @03:55PM (#2847477)
Sure does. (In fact, we're implementing some extra features for those who choose to pay.)

There's an "ignore" button. :)
1600+ uniques after Wired tweeted this less than an hour ago (http://twitter.com/#!/wired/status/38030059625390080) and I have made a single sale. The Internet is weird.
I drew inspiration solely from playing along (and doing well) as I watched last night, thus I didn't really consider the potential "studio participant" outcomes.

I'm sure it might give my product moderately more longevity if Ken or Brad win, but the net benefit would likely be negligible given that there is virtually no investment (nor profit) in the product. The good news, of course, is that the inverse is true as well.

Thanks for the response!

Any and all feedback would be appreciated! In return, please use the coupon code "hackernews" during checkout for $2 off.

(If you'd like a shirt and we share similar circumstances — e.g. you're in San Francisco, or even California — please let me know as I would be happy to accommodate.)

Re:StartupBus: Is your application applicable? on Friday February 11, 2011 @09:28PM (#2209073)
I was initially psyched on this (and I still like the idea) but it's not viable for me simply because of the very late timing. (The fact that you can't apply without a Facebook account is a little annoying, too.)
Re:EFF's 21st Birthday Party on Tuesday February 08, 2011 @01:58PM (#2194261)
I'm sure there will be a ton. I'm considering it.

The completed page is photographed and a plate is made from the negative.
Re:No Contract: $149 Android phone, $25 unlimited data and 300 min on Wednesday February 02, 2011 @01:45PM (#2171463)
Bonus: while it does not ship configured to do so by default, the phone can be used as a "mobile hotspot" (tethered) after a simple modification.

I think I'll go pick one up.

Re:No Contract: $149 Android phone, $25 unlimited data and 300 min on Wednesday February 02, 2011 @01:43PM (#2171456)
You can buy the device from a third party but they only allow Virgin-branded devices on the network.

I have a BlackBerry on Virgin and while the device is pretty atrocious, the coverage is great in SF. (The customer service is not quite up to par, however.)
Re:Looking for a Ride to SXSW? Get on the Startup Bus on Thursday January 27, 2011 @08:02PM (#2150346)
I would LOVE one. I'm in SF.
Re:Reasons Tumblr went down on Wednesday January 19, 2011 @02:00AM (#2118975)
I created this, and it might be a good time to mention that I'm always looking for new opportunities. I'm a well-rounded front-end developer with a sense of humor. ;)

Same app, different path. (I couldn't decide on the morning that I whipped this up.)
